"Where have you been lately stranger?" Ray says as i hold the phone to my ear before hearing that i got a text and pulling the phone from my ear to see its Anthony, again

"Kendall.." Ray trails
"Uh huh?" I say, tuning in "sorry, um..i've just been um..having a lot of late practices and stuff and um..you know im grounded now so.." i trail laughing awkwardly
"So..that means we cant talk anymore?" He asks
"No..no thats not what i mean"
"So then what the fuck ken" he laughs "i feel like you've been kinda avoiding me ever since our date a few days ago and i..dont know why" he says "i mean..i...had a good time.."
"No, i had a good time too i just.." i sigh "it was just so embarrassing..the whole thing with Chris..a-and him chasing you away with a bat.."
"Yeah..that was pretty crazy" he says as i laugh a bit
"I just..i didnt know what to say..im sorry for him" i say "i figured..you didnt want anything to do with the girl with the psycho brother you know?"
"Well first of all..girls with psycho brothers are exactly my type" he starts as i laugh "and second of all..dont figure anything okay? I told you i like you..and if you're brother comes with that then..fuck it i guess im gonna have to get him to like me too" he says as i smile a bit, laying back on my bed as a quick memory of Anthony choking me roughly as he fingered me till i came flashed across my eyes, causing my breath to hitch as i sit back up

I blink hard, gathering myself as i imagine him still here. Damn..thats strong
I breathe out deeply, standing up as Ray says something again
"Im sorry what?" I ask
"I..i said um..ill just have to get your brother to like me too"
"Oh yes.. yeah, yeah.. thank you..so much um.."
"Ray?" He says flatly
"Ray, yes-i knew your name" i laugh "im just messing with you..um..but..I appreciate it really" i say
God Kendall, get it together
"Is..right now not a good time?" He asks
"No right now is fine i just..im just thinking about playoffs next week you know?" I lie "stressful"
"Ah...gotcha" he says "congrats on making it though..i think this is the first time our school has made it.."
