It's hard, i know. And you REALLY need to think this through, expectially if you wanted a change of plot in the middle of writing it.
Give your character/story a main purpose. Like, the character's goal(s), the story's ending-will it be a good or bad ending? What and how did it happend?. Main conflicts and the conflicts that goes through-out the story.
Time line (if you can't decide a full time line as example, years and date. Try using simple ones: past, future, and present times), etcs!
Just try to avoid giving plot holes along the way
