"You've dolled up just for a cozy chat with Jaggy," Mr. Baggy teased the moment Nishita stepped into the living room.

Nishita shot him a glare, restraining herself from giving him a piece of her mind. "Should I slip back into my sweaty attire then? Perhaps that would better suit your expectations?"

Mrs. Singh chuckled. "Looks like you're having a better time with Chandrakant than with Jagdish," she remarked, casting a smile toward her son—who perhaps found the terrazzo patterns in the floor more interesting than anything. "Come on, Beta, contribute something. You've been as quiet as a mouse."

Yes, open your mouth, please say something!

"Our Jaggy is a courtroom wit extraordinaire, Aunty," the man with curly hair chimed in. "But beyond that, he's a man of few words, right, Jaggy?"

Few words? What a surprise!

Her expression morphed into horror as she visualized her future with a man who cherished silence. It seemed rather dull to her—the idea of her chattering away while her partner stared at the wall or a blank space.

Being the talkative extrovert she was, she craved lively conversations. But living with someone who favored burying themselves in silence? That was a conversation killer!

In a relationship, it was essential for both partners to actively engage with each other, not one to fucking dig a hole to hide in while the other rambled on. In the long run, silence would shift things monotonous. After all, who desired a relationship as thrilling as observing paint dry?

"Mr. Baggy suits you better than Chandrakant," Devika remarked, eyeing Jagdish's friend as if he were a spicy Vadapav she wanted to devour.

He was precisely Devika's cup of tea: tall, sexiest tanned brown skin with raw masculine features, piquant muscular, and sharp-witted as hell. Nishita couldn't help but feel like the whole interaction wasn't about her and Mrs. Singh's son getting acquainted, but rather about her best friend and Mr. Baggy engaging in a future hookup discussion.

She sighed. "Um... I'd like to know all your names," she added hesitantly. "I've already mentioned to Mrs. Singh that I prefer to address people by their names, and since you're here in my house, it would be great to start with a brief introduction."

Her mother brought tea for everyone, and Devika exclaimed, "I smell cardamom! Maa, thanks for being so considerate!"

"Do you like Elaichi Chai?" Mr. Baggy asked, raising an eyebrow. "I prefer ginger, sharp and pungent."

Nishita snapped, "Do you want her phone number? I'll give it to you, just shut up and introduce yourself!"

"Talk about invading privacy!" Devika rolled her eyes.

The woman beside Mrs. Singh giggled. "I'll kick things off since the men here seem either too shy to speak up or too eager to flirt with no shame," she said with a smile and picked up a cup of tea for herself. "I'm Sai Prasanna, a pro in Family Law. My pals call me Sana, and you can too."

"Sai Prasanna... Are you from Andhra Pradesh?" Nishita inquired.

The man with curly hair chimed in, "Yes, but she's brought up in Kerala," he said, a wink directed to Prasanna and faced her with a knowing smile. "I'm Unni Krishnan, Unni for short. I'm a senior in the firm, specializing in Corporate Law."

Mr. Baggy's gaze traveled slowly from Devika's head down to her toes, scanning her entirely. "I'm Chandrakant Sahu, these peasants prefer to call me Kant," he purred in a seductive tone, "A seasoned attorney specializing in Criminal Law." Pausing, he flashed a devilish smile at her before turning to Nishita with a wide grin. "You know, frauds, murder, violence, and all that jazz."

"Sounds like you must attract a lot of villains in the city then," Devika remarked, cocking her head provocatively. "Pretty risky, isn't it?"

"Not nearly as much as the golden boy of our firm, Jagdish Veer Singh," he replied, his eyes practically undressing her. "He's the ultimate authority in the realm of Criminal Law."

Disgusted by the open flirtation between Chandrakant and Devika, Nishita quickly averted her gaze, only to be ensnared by Mrs. Singh's son's intense hungry stare. She swallowed, "So, you are a star?" she asked him, her voice shaky for some unknown reason.

"I work hard to satisfy my clients, that's all." Mrs. Sin—no... Jagdish replied in his deep, velvety voice, sending shivers down Nishita's spine.

I work hard to satisfy... Did he imply something inappropriate or my gutter mind is being everywhere?

Just as she began to convince herself that his response was innocent, she caught a hint of a seductive smirk playing on his lips.

Her whole body heated.

Oh, fuck!

A/N

*coughs* Is Jagdish truly as mundane as he seems, or is there a hidden side to him?

Also, Mr. Baggy and Devika seem to hit off faster than the main leads here XD

"Crazy Kiya Re" is dedicated to my side characters here, hoping that they don't end up together before Nishita and Jagdish XD
