I sat in the lobby of the hotel, nursing a cup of coffee that had long gone cold. The faint scent of freshly brewed coffee still lingered in the musty hotel air, but it did little to ease the nerves holding hands and flipping in my stomach. I glanced at the clock on the wall, the seconds ticking by ominously, each one a reminder that I had forgotten Alastor last night.

I had accidentally fallen asleep and failed to meet Alastor as we had agreed. There had been no bad intent, just the exhaustion that crept in and overtook me unexpectedly. And now, as I sat there on the floor in the parlor playing the part of the nonchalant devil(get it?? I'm sorry😭🙏), I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt gnawing at my intestines.. maybe it was just the coffee.
