love bomb

you danced along the fire
that warms your skin.
laughter echoed in the air
as you savored every moment of it
as if it wouldn't last.
you were at the heights of joy.
you did what you wanted,
what you have dreamed,
for nobody was there to see.
you danced
and danced,
never bothered to feed the fire
because you knew it won't last.
you danced despite the fire
beginning to dim;
despite it becoming less warm.
you danced until the fire
reached for your clothes,
and you became afraid.
this isn't the fire you knew.
tears rained upon it.
the fire pleaded and cried.
you already neglected it,
why hurt it too?
smoke polluted your lungs
as its embers waved goodbye.
you grieved.
you wanted to dance with it again,
but you were afraid
because you knew
it won't be the same anymore.
so you stood there from afar
waiting for it to burn again.
