It's been a couple of weeks since joining Night Raid, Kokuen's Tatsumi's first mission, and Tatsumi's assignment with Mine. After taking intruders who found the base, Kokuen was in his room sharpening his knives and making death notes until he noticed his sword glowing ominously with a red aura swirling. Seeing this, Kokuen would look at it, as if he was listening to its voice and it as he then looked out the window before looking at his kill list.
Kokuen: So, he's finally shown himself. The mad executioner, Zanku.
