Day of the hearing

Carina is now 5 months pregnant. Maya was released after 3 weeks in hospital and started her PT. She's been at home for the last 2 months, going to PT sessions, doctors appointments with Carina. Gabriella left a week after Maya woke up. She promised that she would come after the baby was born. Carina has still been going to the Clinic days at 19 and she has softened towards the team. Andy and Jack have been rotating as Captain per Chief Frankel's recommendation. As far as 19 knew Beckett, Sullivan and Ross were still on suspension. Nobody dared to ask Carina about Maya's investigation and their pregnancy. They know that Carina was protective of Maya even when she was Captain, now they were afraid to ask knowing her Italian temper and her hormones due to her pregnancy.

Maya didn't want Carina at the hearing, she didn't want to cause Carina unnecessary stress. Carina was healthy and so was their baby, but since knowing about the baby, Maya seemed overly protective of her wife. They argued about Carina being at the hearing 2 nights before the actual day and Maya had eventually given in not being able to deny her wife.

The morning of the hearing, Maya opens her eyes, she looks over at Carina and then at her growing stomach and smiles. She loves her wife, the life they've created and now the family they're building. She couldn't do this with anyone else. Carina was meant for her, she shuffles down to Carina's stomach "hi baby" she whispers "today is the day, I've been waiting for, for so long. You don't have to worry about that though, you just keep growing. We have more important things to talk about though. Mama. I heard a song the other day when I was in PT and it reminded me of mama" she says gently rubbing Carina's stomach. She hums the tune of the song and before she even realises what she's doing she's softly singing the song

Let me tell you 'bout your mama
About the one who changed my life
She is sweeter than the summer
But she never lets me slide
I didn't know what I was missin'
I didn't know what we could do
Let me tell you 'bout your mama
Cause you're gonna meet her soon

Oh, she give me good feelin'
Like the light of the mornin'
Seepin' right through me to the bone
And the minute you see her
You'll feel her love shine down
Any day now
Any day now

Let me tell you 'bout your mama
About the one who gave you life
She is graceful like a dancer
But there is fire in her eyes
Oh, we can't make it without her
No, we can't make it through
Let me tell you 'bout your mama
Cause you're gonna meet her soon
Oh, you're gonna be here soon

Oh, she give me good feelin'
Like the light of the mornin'
Seepin' right through me to the bone
And the minute you see her
You'll feel her love shine down
Any day now
Any day now

"I think you should sing to the bambino more often" Carina says her voice laced with sleep.

"Mama has interrupted our time baby. I'll be back. I love you" she kisses Carina's stomach and makes her way out from under the covers.

She looks at Carina and kisses her "morning my love"

"Buongiorno. You have to sing more often bambina, the bambino likes it because they weren't kicking me" she chuckles.

"Whatever you want, baby. I'm going to shower and get ready".

"Mmmmm okay. I'll start breakfast. Miranda is picking me up later" she tells Maya. Ben and Bailey had insisted on being with her today.

"You're ready, Maya" Colin asks as they wait in the hallways of SFD headquarters.
