"A curse of a thousand blades fall upon ye" is the quote some old demon-looking creature seemed to be constantly yelling at the group as Star, Maria, Celeri, and Myrkr were all just trying their best to work things out for Tom.
Because Star and Maria apparently long ago performed some kind of ritual that connected them even deeper than any wedding vow could ever possibly be, or maybe it was Celeri and Maria, or Celeri and Star.
The who was connected with who was honestly very hard to figure out since the old demon said that at least one of them would be showing some kind of out-of-character emotions when involved with the other, but both Star and Maria were fine, and Celeri couldn't seem to care one bit about the other more than he did about Janna and Jackie.
Tom: "Well, this is kind of awkward. I mean, I had this whole adventure planned—"
Was all he could say before Star and Maria basically pounced on the poor demon lad like two dogs who were just promised walkies after being forced to stay inside for way too long to the point they started acting like they were aging fifty or so years.
Janna and Jackie also join in, but it was more or less just because they were interested to see how Star and Maria usually go about their quests while dragging Celeri with them like he was a spoiled pup that didn't want to leave its comfy home for their walk.
So everyone gets into Tom's magic carriage with its fiery undead horse, and after a moment everything starts going at breakneck speed, almost like the only reason they had downtime was to either prepare themselves or because that was how long it took to cut open the gate to reach it.
It took about five seconds to go from the new Mewni kingdom to the Decade Cave, where their grand journey should start, and the second they left, Celeri face-planted on the ground like something grabbed his leg.
Celeri: "Dame it! (He groans as he's helped up with blood slowly dripping from his left nostril.) I already hate this place!"
Walking through the place, they first meet a sign made in demon tongue, where Tom begins to read aloud while Celeri wonders why everyone is fine just ignoring the clear fact the sign seemed to be made with blood and somewhat fresh, given the tiny puddle underneath it.
Tom reading sign: "The path to break once was locked, comes with the cost of both sides getting lost, to make sure ye find each other once more to get to the end, for if not ye shall be doomed to forget and reset it all."
Tom normal: "What the heck does that even me-"
And like a repeat of any annoying song, Tom is once again unable to speak his mind before getting interrupted; however, this time he wasn't the only person who had vanished, as everyone began falling down some holes towards individual caverns.
Inside those caverns were pure crystals. one side was clear baby blue or maybe teal, something blue yet magical-looking, while the other was a bright red color, like a red popsicle was slowly losing its color by someone sucking it all away.
On the blue side of the crystals were all the people the group would say they actually loved; it didn't matter if they'd never say it outright in front of said person or to anyone else in the world, but so long as they thought it in their heart, they would still appear.
Of course the opposite side would have the people they could never stand in a million years and either actually hated or were close enough to the point they'd only step in to help the person if they got paid or if they begged hard enough for their help.
The first person each of them sees is none other than Celeri. AND THAT INCLUDES CELERI! Which side of the crystal mirror I shall leave up to you to guess, but know this: the mirrors reveal all, including the level of affection or hatred one has for those they see in its walls.
