Ignoring his family's cautions, Ishaan took a week to ponder meeting Adhithi. Throughout that period, he never once responded to her calls. Adhithi, lacking any other way to contact him, didn't know his address or have any connection to his friends. As a week passed, her hope of mending things with Ishaan dwindled, and she braced for the possibility of their relationship ending.

As she lay in bed, her phone's ring jolted her with anticipation, hoping it was Ishaan reaching out. To her disappointment, it was her mother on the line. After the call, she started to pack and hailed a cab. En route, she dialed Ishaan's number repeatedly, but to no avail. With a heavy heart, she tried one final time before switching off her phone.

The following day, after Adhithi had left, Ishaan stood at the entrance of her apartment building. He had come early, as it was a weekday, but there was no answer to his calls. The previous day, he had missed her numerous attempts to contact him while he was out, his phone left behind. Returning to a list of missed calls, he tried to call her back, fearing she was now giving him a taste of his own medicine.

Eventually, he resolved to go up to her apartment directly. He knocked on her door, but there was no answer. His persistent knocking disturbed the neighbors due to the unusual hour. One neighbor emerged and informed him that she had seen Adhithi pack up and leave.

"What?" he exclaimed.

"It was around nine last night; she seemed rushed," the neighbor explained.

"Didn't she say where she was going?"

"She's not one to talk much, and I don't know her well. She didn't share anything with me before leaving. I only saw her departure from my window."

Ishaan felt as if lightning had struck him

Ishaan felt as if lightning had struck him. Had she truly left for good? Why did she leave? Why hadn't she told him? But she had, multiple times over the past week, even calling the previous night. It was he who hadn't answered the phone. What was he to do now? What if he never saw her again? Was this the end? He hadn't had the chance to apologize, to tell her he was there for everything and anything. And now, she was gone. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts.

He didn't return home but went to his elder brother's apartment, not wanting to worry his parents. His sister-in-law, sensing something was amiss, let him in.

"Ishu, what's wrong?"

At the sound of his wife's voice calling 'Ishu,' his brother emerged into the hallway. Ishaan approached and hugged him tightly.

"Brother, she left."

"Who?"

"Adhithi."

"To where?"

"I'm not sure. She just disappeared. She tried calling me several times last week, but I never picked up. Perhaps it was her way of saying farewell."

"You might still be able to find her. She probably returned to her hometown," his sister-in-law interjected with a soothing tone.
