Mabel's POV -

I couldn't shake the feeling of disconnect that had settled over me in the past two weeks, like I was a stranger to my own reflection, i had come to the conclusion as i was wrapped in Noah's scent in bed while he was at his meeting, I had become a hollow shell, a protective barrier against the tidal wave of life-altering revelations that had been thrust upon me.

Tonight, however, was different. Tonight was about acceptance. It was a night filled with internal pep-talks, and i was finally at the point where i had wholeheartedly accepted what Noah was and who he was to me. My mate.

I had fully accepted what he was apart of. A pack, that i would now be welcomed into.

There would be no more hyperventilating, or crying or pushing Noah away. I was ready to welcome him and all of the changes he had made in my life.

I smiled as i practically skipped to Noah's room to slip on clothes a little more comfortable for the cool weather outside. I slipped into my hiking leggings and a cozy black half-zip fleece, topping it off with my oversized light pink puffer coat. It enveloped me in warmth and comfort, a physical manifestation of the newfound resolve coursing through me.

Exiting the room, I still felt a twinge of unease in Noah's space, but I pushed through it, determined to acclimate myself to his surroundings. My socks slid over the polished wooden floor, prompting me to skid over to my walking boots by the back door. As I wrestled them onto my feet, I couldn't shake the sensation of Noah's gaze lingering on me, heating my skin with its intensity.

I turned back to him once i was ready with a nervous smile on my face as i shoved my hands into my pockets to keep from fiddling with them. Noah approached with confident strides, the rhythmic thud of his paws echoing in the room. With a mischievous glint in his eyes, he playfully nipped at the exposed wrist peeking out of my pocket, eliciting a gasp from me.

He repeated the gesture, and I couldn't help but giggle, swatting his muzzle away gently. Despite his teasing, I knew his intentions were playful, and I couldn't help but respond with a soft smile.

With a quick flick of his head, Noah gestured towards the tree line beyond his fencing, his impatience palpable in the air. I couldn't help but giggle softly at his eagerness. "So impatient," I teased, before bidding farewell to the cozy confines of his home and stepping into Noah's enchanting garden. It was a true reflection of his essence, with vibrant fruits and aromatic herbs flourishing in cheery yellow pots, a testament to his nurturing spirit. Making my way towards the back gate, already ajar, I felt a sense of anticipation stirring within me.

Noah trailed behind me, a spring in his step that matched the sparkle in his eyes. His excitement was infectious, but I couldn't shake the sensation that I was taking a lively pup for a stroll. Suppressing a snort of amusement, I couldn't resist poking fun at the situation. "Feels like I'm taking a dog for a walk," I remarked, a grin tugging at my lips. I gestured to myself with a playful flourish. "man and his best-friend," I added, nodding towards Noah with a playful glint in my eye.

In response, Noah emitted a low growl, the deep rumble reverberating through the air and sending shivers down my spine. It was a primal sound, awakening sensations within me that I hadn't yet come to terms with. Suppressing a gasp, I felt a pulsating heat surge through me, the vibrations of his growl resonating in the depths of my being. It was a moment of undeniable intimacy, leaving me both exhilarated and unsettled by the intensity of our connection.

As we ventured beyond the safety of Noah's garden, the moon cast its silvery glow upon the Highland landscape, painting the rolling hills in hues of silver and shadow. The night air was crisp and invigorating, carrying with it the faint scent of pine and earth. With each step, the tension that had gripped me for weeks began to melt away, replaced by a sense of liberation and newfound purpose.
