After dinner with Nolan, I went back home only to be met by a tipsy Linus on my front lawn talking to the water fountain statue that was there.
"Get a cab ready to take Mr. Elrod home," I told Gerald as I saw him come out to greet me from my night out.
"There she is!" Linus says with a bottle of Jack in his hand and a busted lip.
I sighed as he wobbled over but then landed in the water fountain.
"So much for skipping out of town huh?" I say leaning over trying to help him out but he pulls me in by having me get soaked with the fountain water.
Laughing he holds his side as it hurts I'm guessing by getting his ass kicked somewhere before he made his way over here to me.
"This isn't a joke Linus," I said standing, having Gerald flustered as he saw what was going on.
Raising his bottle to me he says, "To always being the problem and always screwing up," Taking the bottle to his lips, he takes a swig then wipes his mouth with a wince as it's cut.
Being a sucker, I tell Gerald to grab him out and into the house as I gather towels for me and him.
Gerald has Linus get onto the leather couch in the ballroom area while I also got the safety kit from the kitchen as I'm a known klutz doing anything sometimes.
"You so owe me Elrod," I say, yanking the bottle out his hand and having him sit up more.
Linus scoffs then looks into my eyes as I open the kit up, grabbing some bandages and neosporin.
As I'm about to apply some to his lip with a cotton swab, he grabs hold of my wrist, "We're alike you and I, you know that? My parents told me about how you stay here in this big castle of riches and have no one but yourself, you're just as discarded as I am since no one wants you around," Yanking my hand from his grip I apply the ointment roughly, having him glare at me.
"Talking isn't required as I patch you up and send you about your way," Moving over to his nose that has a small gash on it, I lean closer to him only for his hands to guide me on top of him, having me sit on his lap now.
"Don't even think about what you might be thinking about," I say looking into his eyes as I stopped applying ointment on his nose, gritting my teeth at him.
"Thought you needed to get closer, I was trying to help," Ignoring him, I continued patching him up.
He sits up more but still has me sit on him, until I said, "You're done, I don't need to be on you anymore," I close the safety kit then put it to the side glaring at him.
"Thanks for taking care of a piece of shit like me," Now moving me off to the side, he fixes his shirt then grabs a muggy pack of cigarettes out of his jean pocket.
Shaking my head, grabbing it before he could light one, I say, "Nope, not in here," Then go towards the balcony window to throw them outside but he catches me and them.
"Those are what I got beaten up for, so don't go tossing them like trash."
I scoffed, "Cigarettes? You got your ass kicked for a pack of cigarettes?"
Linus moves away breathing heavily with the words, "They were also talking shit," He turns away, "Shit about you." About to open the cigarette box, he looks at me from the side, "I was just drinking to numb the freaking punches they landed into my side and nose for being such a knight and shining armor to your royally stuck up ass. You patching me up kind of sobered me up it seems."
Sticking a cigarette in his mouth now, he lights it and points it towards me in between his fingers as he says, "Why are you so stuck up anyways? Just because you're the heiress to all of this?" He motions to the whole house, "At the end of the day you're still bone and flesh. Nothing special."
Turning, I laughed leaning on the brown long table that holds a few flower bouquets as centerpieces, tilting my head to the side watching Gerald ordering people to turn the fountain off. With anger laced on the inside of my tongue I say, "I'm not an obscene alcoholic who goes around fighting for a pack of cigarettes and then goes to people to be treated like a lost child wanting some type of affection that mommy dearest and daddy dearest can't give because they can't stand you secretly."
Linus flicks the cigarette next to me, putting it out on the floor beside me too.
"Didn't your parents die because of you? Who's to say you didn't plan it to have all this to yourself since your so damn stingy wi—" I slapped Linus hard now wanting him to know just how much that comment was way out of line, even though fighting with fire tends to end up like that anyways, hurting one another just cause the other one burned you just as bad.
"Leave," I say through clenched teeth watching him rub the spot I slapped.
Poking his tongue inside his cheek, he scoffs, turning on his heels, making it to the front door slamming it loudly.
I go to my room to get out of the soggy clothing I was in and shower, putting on something more comfortable and drier only to be phoned in by Gerald.
"Yes Gerald?" I say agitated, throwing my brush on my dresser.
"Yerlin wanted to see how things were going with the name log."
Holding my head, I sighed angrily, "Tell him I'll see what I can find in the morning, as of right now tell him to kindly fuck off."
Hanging up with all the "excitement" with Linus just completely sucked all the energy I had, just wanting to fall asleep and forget our interaction ever happened.
Fluffing my pillow, I lay my head down, not wanting to do anything else at all but just stare at my parents picture, ready to drift away into a place I wasn't alone in anymore, where I could see them proud and smiling wishing me the best, when all I ever wanted was them to be here now as I dealt with all the shit that came with them being taken in the first place, a legacy I never asked for.
