Lost in what ifs

In the depths of despair, I'm drowning deep,
Your absence a wound that refuses to sleep.
Each new encounter, a cruel reminder,
Of a love lost, a heart left to wander.

What if I'm condemned to this endless plight,
Forever haunted by memories that bite.
The ache in my chest, a constant companion,
A symphony of sorrow, a soul abandoned.

Your ghost lingers in every whispered breeze,
A haunting presence that never appease.
What if I'm destined to forever grieve,
For a love that I could never retrieve.

I'm suffocating in the shadows of regret,
A prisoner of a love I cannot forget.
What if I'm doomed to roam this darkened land,
Forever yearning for a touch, a hand.

So here I am, lost in the depths of despair,
A heart shattered, beyond repair.
What if I'm condemned to this endless rue,
For in losing you, I've lost myself too.
