Radiance's POV
After our kissing session, Derek mind-linked Lucas that there was an emergency, and that he had to show up in the meeting room. He ran there, me following him. We entered the room, and I saw a huge oval table with many chairs around it, most of them occupied by men. The chattering died down and all eyes were on us.
"What's going on Derek?" Lucas asked, his voice full of authority.
"He's on the phone, Alpha. Radiance's father. He wants to talk to you."
My eyes widened. Lucas walked to the phone and pressed on speaker, putting a finger in front of his mouth to indicate me not to make a sound that would make him know that I was here.
"Alpha Lucas I have been waiting." Dad spoke, and I could basically see the smirk on his face. My mate growled loudly.
"HAVE YOU LOST ALL YOUR SENSES?! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Lucas roared, making everyone in the room flinch. I walked quietly towards him and held his hand to calm him down.
"I thought I made it pretty clear. I want my daughter back." He said.
"There's no way am I giving her back. After what you've done to her, you expect me to hand her back just like that? If you want a war, I'll give you one but you are not getting my mate." My heart fluttered at his words. He was willing to start World War III just for me. That wasn't exactly a good thing, but you get my point.
"Aw she told you? How sweet..." He sighs."How disappointing. She can't handle herself."
My hand formed fists and I gritted my teeth. I wanted to yell at him about how much of an asshole he is, how no one should go through what he did to me, how I'm handling myself very well. I could feel my eyes darkening and my fangs popping out. But I kept quiet when Lucas gave me a warning look.
"No one has to go through that alone. Specially not her." He argued.
"How adorable, a mate sticking up for the other. How sentimental, how typical. Anyways let's get to the point. It's either she goes down alone, or both of you go down together and I take over your pack." The men in the room started whispering, and I was surprised that they underestimated their Alpha so much. I mean, they were part of the strongest pack in the world.
"How exactly do you plan on doing that?"
"Oh don't you worry about that, Caine. You just sit back and watch me steal away your precious princess." Lucas snarled at how my father called him. "You may have made her feel better this time Lucas. But when I get my hands on her, I'm going to break her so badly that she'll be irreparable. Farewell, Alpha." There was a hint of madness and insanity in his voice. He chuckled deeply and cut the line.
The room went silent, as his words rang through my mind.
'When I get my hands on her, I'm going to break her so badly that she'll be irreparable.'
That meant that he doesn't want to kill me, only torture and torment me. He was planning something, and knowing my father, it was going to be big. I turned around and stormed out of the chamber. Lucas soon followed, and I could hear his footsteps growing closer.
"Where are you going?" He asked. I didn't answer.
We were now in the middle of field, and people were looking at us curiously.
"Radiance where are you going?" He asked again, with more force this time.
"My father is up to something." I said while turning to face him. "He killed two innocent men, and I'm more than sure that he's paying the rogues to observe your actions and report them so that he can plan the attack." People were around us, watching the scene. I felt pressured, and my breathing quickened.
"I can't let-..." He started talking but I cut him off.
"I understand that you don't want to let me go. I understand that you don't want to be separated from me. Trust me I understand." It was his turn to interrupt me.
"Then why are you so determined to go?" He yelled.
"Because I don't want him to hurt you!" I snapped. "The guy killed two men who had nothing, absolutely nothing to do with me. He opened their stomachs and spilled their guts on the floor and then glued our picture to it Lucas! Don't you get it? The man is insane! He will stop at nothing until he gets what he wants. He will hurt your pack, and more importantly, hurt you. All of that because of me."I sighed. "I never should of been born. You are not talking me out of this. He won't kill me, he said it indirectly." I pointed out.
"But he'll hurt you." Lucas was running out of arguments, and it was frustrating him.
"It won't matter. I'm already broken, so what's left to lose?"
He stepped forwards and hugged me. As I started to let go, he slung me over his shoulder and walked back into the mansion.
"LUCAS MOTHERFUCKING CAINE PUT ME DOWN RIGHT NOW!" I screeched.
He entered the room, and dropped me softly.
"I can't let you go. I love you Radiance. Why can't you understand? I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that you're suffering while I'm doing nothing."
"Lucas, I-.." He didn't let me finish as he smashed his lips on mine. I instantly responded to the kiss.
The thing about him is that he is able to set me on fire, and let out my inner radiance.
