"Let's play truth or dare. Or maybe just dare, since no one knows how to tell the truth anymore." ~One Tree Hill

Radiance's POV

I decided not to tell Lucas about what had happened during training. He has no respect towards the members of my old pack, so if he knew about this, he would lose it. I wasn't afraid of Drake (A/N: I just realized that I didn't give a name to the Beta, so there you go). I knew that if he killed me, he would go down as well. There's no way that someone would let him get away with murder, and especially not with the murder of their Luna. I was a bit relieved at that thought, but I still needed to be careful.

"Luna!" Someone called out. I turned around and saw Kevin jogging towards me.

"I told you to call me Radiance." I scowled playfully, earning a chuckle.

"We can't always get what we want now, can we?" He smirked. I laughed. It was hard to believe that this man was almost three times my age. He acts as if he was nineteen.

"How's Anna? I haven't heard from her in a while."

"I'm actually running away from her right now actually."

"Why?" I frowned.

"It's that time of the month again." He sighed. "It's not a pretty sight with Anna."

I shook my head as a smile tugged at my lips and looked at him. His lips were curled upwards, and his eyes were sparkling.

"But that's what you love about her, isn't it?" I observed. "Her craziness."

He looked at me questionably.

"And when did you become an expert?" We both sat down. We've been walking in the forest for a while, and somehow arrived at a lake. I shrugged while looking straight ahead.

"It's obvious. You seem happier than usual when you're talking about her."

He stayed silent for a few minutes.

"I know what happened the other day." He said silently. My eyes widened. How did he find out? If he knew then he would definitely tell Lucas. "Lucas told me."

"Lucas told you what exactly?" I questioned. He doesn't know about the threat so how could he have told his father about it?

"Your breakdown." He said before squinting his eyes at me. "Is there something else I should know?"

"No." I said, probably a little too quickly. He hummed, obviously not believing me, but thankfully letting it go.

"I'd like to talk to you about it."

"Oh please, I'm already embarrassed enough as it is."

I just realized how easy it was for me to talk to Kevin. Usually I would be shy, and choose my words carefully, but now they just slip out before I can even think about what I want to say.

"I bet you are. But after what you've been through, it's only natural for you to act that way."

I looked at him weirdly.

"And when did you become an expert?" I mocked.

"I went through almost the same thing."

My smirk was slapped off my face.

"Why do you think I was so rude when I first saw you? Do you think I enjoyed it? This pack has been in our family for generations. My father trained me when I was a kid to be a proper alpha. Take the necessary decisions and make the sacrifices you need to do. He would always say 'Have no mercy.' It was the first thing I learned. If I don't like someone, I have to do something about it. If someone bothers me, then I'd have to get rid of them. All my life, I fought to get my father's approval. I wanted to make him proud and reach his standards. When I would do something wrong, he would battle me, and of course, would win. So I wanted the best for Lucas. To be able to raise him differently than how my father raised me. But obviously, there's too much of my father to do that." He sighed.

"Not exactly." He looked at me. "When I stood up to you, you took it well. It proved to you that I was worthy of your son. If I had said what I told you to your father, he would've chopped my head off." He smiled. "You did something that he probably would never do. You admitted that you were wrong. And that requires a lot of bravery to be done."

He didn't answer. He didn't need to.

--

Night fell. Kevin invited me and Lucas to sleep in their house. After unceasing whining on Anna's part, we took their offer and headed towards their home.

"Where were you all afternoon?" Lucas said, his arm on my shoulder, keeping me close.

"I was with your father."

He seemed surprised.

"And what did you do?"

"Talked." I shrugged. He gave me a pointed look, but I only winked.

'Tonight.' A voice boomed in my head. I stopped walking.

"Did you hear that?" I asked him.

"Hear what?"

I stood still and shook my head.

"Nothing." I grabbed his hand. "Let's go."

We walked a bit further.

'TONIGHT!' The voice roared this time. I shrieked and covered my ears.

"Radiance? What's wrong? Baby talk to me." Lucas took me in his arms and calmed me down. After a while I just said.

"Migraine."

We finally arrived. I immediately ran upstairs and locked myself in the bathroom. I put my hand on my forehead and breathed in deeply.

What did they mean by 'tonight'?

I told Lucas and his parents that I was going to bed because I wasn't feeling well. I laid down on the bed.

'I'm going mad. I'm loosing my mind.'

After a while, all the lights of the house were out, and Lucas was peacefully laying behind me, my back on his chest. I closed my eyes, and finally let darkness consume me.

--

Screams.

I woke up abruptly, and looked around. Lucas was in the same state as me. Another scream ripped through the silence of the night. I jumped off the bed and ran out of the room, Lucas hot on my tail. A smell that was all too familiar filled my nostrils.

Blood.

I entered his parents' room and gasped.

Kevin, face first on the floor, drowning in a pool of his own blood.

Anna leaning on a wall, holding her stomach, crying out in agony.

On the wall was written:

Tonight, we take your most beloved.

--End of Runaway--

We did it. We finished the first book of the Runaway series. Omg. Okay so you're not allowed to kill me for this alright? I need to live to write the second book, whose name is going to be 'Murderer on the run'.
