Jesse hastily launched herself on her bed. After just returning from the Portal Network, and Ivor disappearing with the Atlas, along with the enchanted flint and steel, she was quite exhausted.
Petra and Lukas seemed to be doing a lot better than she was. They were still walking around, their energy not close to needing to be recharged.
She, on the other hand, could hardly walk once they made it to the Treasure Room. They didn't notice then when she slipped away, but they would by now. .
And just as she predicted a knock came from the other side of the door. "Jesse?"
She lifted her head from the pillow, softly replying, "Come in."
The door slowly opened as she fell back into the position she was in seconds earlier. She didn't expect there to be two instead of one, but Lukas and Petra were standing before her anyway.
"Already? We haven't even been back for two hours." Petra chuckled as soon as she spotted Jesse's form.
"Who cares, Petra?" She mumbled, her voice muffled by the pillow she planted into, "I'm tired."
"Party now, sleep later." The leader paused at her friend's words.
"Party? What party?"
"Axel and Olivia decided to throw one to mark our return," Lukas said, casting a glare on Petra, "but it's not until tonight."
"Well, we have to find SOMETHING to do between now and then." The redhead groaned.
"You could sleep." Lukas offered.
"No! That's boring! Besides, the only tired one here is Jesse." Petra huffed, slapping Lukas.
"Exactly, which is why we should leave her alone." Lukas grabbed Petra by the waist, trying to drag her out. Petra kicked his shin, jumping on the bed. "What if she wants company? Did you ever think of that, Lukas?"
Jesse didn't hear the rest of their bickering. She managed to pass out through all of that.
The last thing she heard was, "Too late."

She woke much later, not even bothering to fix her appearance. Her hair was messy, and she still had her armor on. Like she cared. Jesse wasn't big on appearances unless she was trying to hide something. The others had never noticed, at least, not until she started acting weird.
She left the room, heading into the kitchen, where everyone else happened to be. "We need some big event to top it all off at the end," Olivia suggested.
"Yeah! Like explosions!" Axel exclaimed, mimicking bombs.
"No," Olivia said sternly. Axel hung his head low in defeat, whining.
"Hey, guys." Jesse finally spoke, and her friends finally shot up in her direction.
"Jesse!" Lukas was the first to rise from his seat, wrapping his arms around her frame. "We thought you'd sleep for at least a few more hours."
"Well, forget that. Anyway, what's going on here?" She asked, taking a seat too at the island.
"Y'know, the usual bickering," Petra muttered her eyes staring daggers at the griefer and the engineer.
"Of course," The girl sighed, her gaze too on their friends.
Jesse traced her finger along the smooth surface of the island, her other hand drumming against it. She didn't want to get in between Axel and Olivia. If she did, she would snap, and they'd think something was wrong.
