Chapter 22: For The Better

Aiden had been constantly yelled at. Mostly it had been Cassie, but Maya and Gil were mad at him too.

Soren didn't seem mad at all. So days later, he called all of them back into their meeting room at the mansion.

"Gosh, Aiden shouldn't even be here." Cassie groaned.

"Yeah, he's the one who screwed up. We always meant to get revenge on Lukas, but we were meant to poison Jesse, NOT LUKAS." Maya narrowed her eyes at him, and he didn't shrink at her voice.

"Yeah!"

"Gil, just stop."

"Actually," Soren started, "Aiden did something pretty smart. Jesse's weakness is Lukas, and taking him out first just made it easier for us to take out her."  -

"Finally someone understands, unlike these nitwits." He hissed.

"Well, we were thinking taking Jesse out first and making it seem like she disappeared so her friends leave to look for her was a better idea." Cassie huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"To be honest, I'm surprised Lukas is even with that stupid dork now." Gil piped up. Everyone else facepalmed.

"Everyone saw this coming ever since the whole Wither Storm Ordeal. Keep up, Gil." Maya elbowed him, and he howled in pain.

"So, they probably figured out how we took out Lukas. We just need a new way to take out Jesse." Aiden pointed out.

"Well, we could do what I just said, and kidnap her instead." Cassie rolled her eyes as if it was really obvious.

"We'd just have to do it before Jesse realizes that us  Blaze Rods are here too." Maya huffed.

"This time, we should host a banquet or something like that, invite all of them, and then we strike."

Jesse woke to rocks being thrown at her window. Groaning, she got up, opening the window to see Petra down below.

"What do you want?" She asked flatly, turning away from the window.

"Just come down here!" The redhead called back. 

"Petra, I swear if this is another STUPID PRANK-"

"It's not-" She pulled someone standing behind a nearby bush. Olivia. If she was there, it couldn't be a prank. The engineer would not go through with it.

"Where's Axel?"

"He was too busy raiding the kitchen, then he ended up being too tired-"

"Oh."

Not even hesitating once, Jesse decided to jump out of the window. She didn't even scream as she fell, nor did she expect another figure to catch her.

"WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU THINKING?!"

She thought Petra and Olivia hated her parents, so why did they bring Milo along? Especially when it's way past midnight?

Her father set her down, letting her finally see their faces under the moonlight.

"Ok, somebody better start talking." She glared at them, waiting for someone to explain.

"Well, we figured we could do something for you." Olivia started. 

"You just looked like you could use a break." Milo finished.

"These two didn't think the sleeping potions I found at Ivor's would suffice," Petra muttered.
