Koa's POV:

I quickly walked to Tanner's room after saying goodnight to Lani. He could have killed her today and he didn't seem to care all that much.

Him and I haven't gotten along since the fifth grade when we were best friends. One day he decided to stab me in the hand with a pencil and cuss me out in front of the entire class.

I of course, did it back and so began our rivalry. Whenever I got a girlfriend, he made sure that didn't last longer than a week before he was dating the girl, so I mostly steered clear of dating.

I still have no idea what I did to him to make him hate me so much. I think about it every day the two of us are trapped in here together.

I reached his room and kicked the bottom of the door before walking in. He was sitting with his back to the door.

"Ah, Lani have you reconsidered my de- oh you." He rolled his eyes at me standing up.

"We have to talk Tanner." I sighed sitting down to show I wasn't going to try hurting him right now.

"Not interested. Please leave my room." He dismissed me.

I ignored him continuing. "You could have killed her today."

"I was in complete control over the situation. I knew when to give her a little air to breathe. She wasn't going to die. I just wanted to scare her enough into agreeing but she never did. She's a strong one you got there K." He pointed at me running his other hand through his hair.

"Do you seriously not see anything wrong with what you did today?" I raised my voice slightly.

"Not really." He shook his head. "Now you enjoy these next few days with her because soon, she will be all mine. I think I'll hold onto her for a while. I like this one."

"Leave her alone!" I got up quickly. "Can't you see you scared her today? She thought she was going to die and you think she would ever want to be with you after that? You're fucking sick."

"I didn't say she would want to be with me." He smirked.

I fisted my hands at my sides and stormed out. I could hear his voice calling behind me but I ignored and hurried off to my room for the night.

Lani's POV:

I kept tossing and turning all night. This bed wasn't nearly as comfortable as mine and the rooms were freezing.

I wanted to go see Koa so I crept out of bed and picked the lock at my door.

It opened a little louder than I would have liked but I still walked across the campus to the boys rooms where I snuck in and peeked through the tiny windows. I saw him laying on his back and I ran to him.

"Koa!" I whispered and tapped on the glass.

"Lani what are you doing here? Get in before you get caught." He opened the door and let me in.

"How did your door open so easily?" I asked quietly.

"I rigged the lock so it never actually locks. A lot of us have done it." He explained.

"Can you teach me how to do it to mine? I spent fifteen minutes trying to pick the lock." I laughed slightly.

"Sure. I'll show you tomorrow. Why are you here?"

"I can't sleep." I sat down on his bed. "I miss my old bed and all my pillows."

"The first few days suck. It gets a little easier." He comforted me.

"I'm not planning on sticking around for that remember?" I reminded him.

"Right." He looked down sadly.
