8: Boyfriend

We walked quickly to where everyone was outside and found them exactly how we left them.

They were just sitting there talking and enjoying themselves.

When Kai saw Malie holding a bloody knife with a little blood on her body, he rushed over with Koa right behind him.

"What happened?" He cupped my face and examined me with his eyes.

"I'm fine Koa." I held his hands on my face.

"What happened." He repeated more sternly this time.

"I killed two people." Malie said quietly but we all heard it.

Koa looked to me confused and I just nodded letting him know she was telling the truth.

"Why? What happened?" Kale came over.

"Tanner." I said and everyone seemed to understand a little better.

"You killed Tanner?" Mele asked.

"No, of course not." Malie shook her head. "He had two friends with him. I killed them."

"I still don't know why." Kilo struggled to understand.

"Tanner had two of his friends hold me and threaten Lani using me. They let me go when Lani agreed to what he wanted and then I grabbed the knife and stabbed the two of them in the throat." She looked down scared.

"Lani what did you agree to?" Koa asked me worriedly.

"The same bullshit again. Be with him and Malie lives." I rolled my eyes. "The dude has got to get some new material." I chuckled slightly trying to lighten the mood.

"We gotta get him to back off." Kai told Koa.

"I know." Koa nodded as he began to think. "He will stop at nothing to get what he wants because he has always gotten what he wanted."

"Not this time." I assured him. "I will never be with him. I'm yours." I held his hand.

"You're not technically mine yet." He reminded me. "But we can change that right now."

I smiled as he grabbed both of my hands and pulled me closer to him.

"Lani Mahoe, would you allow me to be your boyfriend?" He asked smiling.

I giggled as I nodded agreeing. "Yes!" I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him.

"Whats going on here?" I pulled away to see Hayley walking over with Mano right behind her.

"I'm just hanging out with my girlfriend." Koa smirked putting his arm around my shoulders.

"Girlfriend?" Hayley looked at me smiling.

I couldn't hold back my happiness so I just smiled back at her as she came over and sat down with us.

We told them what happened and we began to figure out how to make sure that Malie didn't get in trouble.

"It was technically self defense so we could always use that when we get questioned." I told everyone.

"True." Mano nodded.

"I think that would work." Kale agreed.

"Malie, you're not going to get in trouble." Kai reassured her seeing what a mess she was.

"What if they don't believe it was self defense though." She asked.

"It's Tanner and Malia's alibis vs all of ours." Kilo looked around at our table.

"I'm pretty sure majority rules here." Mele smiled at her bringing a smile to her face as well.

"That's the spirit girl!" Hayley nudged her calming her nerves.
