You're The Music That's Been Playing In My Head: Book Four

Passion: Part 3

"It's ok Adrien, we'll figure something out," I pat his back reassuringly when he eyes Ladybug's earrings.

"Wait a minute...The bolts were only after Chat Noir right?"

"Without your suit, they flew away as fast as I run away from cheese in a can," Plagg nods in agreement.

"Are you thinking what I think you're thinking?" I ask with a smirk as I cross my arms.

"If you're thinking it's time for Mr. Bug and Lady Noir to make a comeback then you're right." 

Placing her down in one tunnel I wait for Adrien to go down the other one before taking Ladybug's earrings out. A minute later Marinette returns, her hands flying to her ears in panic.

"Don't freak out, they're right here," I hold my hand out showing the miraculous safe and sound.

"Ladybug you're back! I'm so glad that worked! We can't transform back yet. The akumatized villain we're actually facing is a powerful hunter. With her magic bolts, she can locate us wherever we hide," Adrien's relieved voice rings out and Marinette instantly picks up on what he was alluding to.

"Maybe Ladybug and Chat Noir but not Mr. Bug and Lady Noir."

"That's what I was thinking."

"We really are on the same page Kitten. Don't cha' think?" I lightly jab her before walking to Adrien's tunnel, presenting the earrings with one hand and my other open for his ring.

Adrien looks at the miraculous with a frown and hesitates.

"I know why it's bad already but I think I need a reminder," He mumbles and I arch an eyebrow, getting a bad feeling.

"Of what?"

"Since our two miraculous combined can grant any wish...Why don't we make one ourselves? We could fix everything that's wrong with the world. Put an end to Monarch, wars, hunger, injustice, racism, and disease. We could finally just be happy."

I shake my head no at him, figuring Natalie's akumatization was weighing heavily on him for him to want to risk a wish.

"You know it doesn't work that way, Kitty. There's a balance between creation and destruction. For every one thing we fixed, another would be destroyed, for every sick person we cured, another ill. For every villain defeated another just as bad would come up. I'm not sure what's going on in your life right now Chat Noir but making a wish will not fix it," Marinette tells him while I pat his shoulder again.

"Remember Ladybug's motto: There's always another way."

Adrien takes a deep breath before handing me his miraculous. "Thank you. I'm glad I have you both to keep me grounded."

I give him the earrings with a small smile before giving Marinette the ring. The three of us transform and smirk at each other when no bolts appear.

Following some bolts back to the hunter we watch her send them out again along with a mirage of Time Tagger as she exclaims the hunt wasn't over for Safari.

"So the hunter has become the hunted dear Safrai," Mr. Bug whispers, turning to me and Lady Noir to discuss the plan when he makes a face and I turn to see Lady Noir checking him out.

"You look good in red with black polka dots. It brings out the color of your eyes," Lady Noir flirts with a cat growl.

I pinch the bridge of my nose with a sigh, already fed up with her antics.

I used to be a patient person...Then I met these two.

"Uh...Thanks? Your outfit suits you too...But if we don't get to hunting we'll become the prey again," He tries to bring her back into the situation. 

"Lady Noir focus!" I hiss in her ear when she doesn't respond but this causes her to jump and nod in agreement.

"Yes! You're right! Shouldn't become prey...Of course, it depends on who does the huntin' hey?"

Mr. Bug gives her a confused look before taking off and Lady Noir again asks, "What is wrong with me?"

"May I introduce you to dignity? It appears you two aren't acquainted yet," I sarcastically droll before heading off.

With Safari distracted Mr. Bug uses his yoyo to rip the crossbow out of her hands and towards Lady Noir who cataclysms it while I tackle Safari who kicks me away and I jump back to my comrades who frown at the broken crossbow.

"How am I supposed to catch a non-existent Megakuma?" 

"You can always catch this bug!" Safari yells, using her bullwhip to throw a wall at us. 

Pulling Mr. Bug close, Lady Noir uses her staff to get them out of the way while I do the same with my spear.

"Hey! Don't you dare try to flatten my partner's gorgeous face!" 

Mr. Bug shoots me a very confused face, silently wondering if I knew what was going on with Lady Noir while I give him an unimpressed look back that reads 'Don't even ask.'

"Don't be jealous, I'll flatten yours next!"

Another wall is thrown that we dodge, only to yelp in shock as the wall chases us and we move to lower ground.

"Hey! That goes against the laws of physics!" I yell at her as we run and she chases us.

"Destroying my gadgets doesn't destroy my power. Most importantly the one that never misses a target," Safari begins throwing more things at us, forcing us to dodge, until we were in front of the movie theater again. (If your power is to never miss a target how did you lose? That is my gripe about this episode with that OP power Safari should've won)

"I told you going to the movies was a good idea," Lady Noir jokes as we dodge an oncoming bus.

"My suit has a really weird influence on you."

"Trust me it's not the suit," I mumble before Safari demands we relinquish our miraculous.

"Monarch's the one who wants the miraculous! What about you Safari? What do you want?" Lady Noir asks as me and her use our staff/spear to stop the car she flung at us.

"The same thing: A wish. Everyone wants to have one right?"

"There will be a price to pay!" Mr. Bug tells her as her charges at her.

"I have nothing left to lose!"

"You do! You can lose yourself and the ones you love. You can use anyone who loves you back. No matter who you are there's always someone out there who loves you!" Mr. Bug steps over the trash can thrown at him and uses his yoyo to break Safari's wristwatch.

I run in as back up and use my spear to catch her bullwhip and pull it towards me, snapping it in half. Still no Megakuma.

"We destroyed everything she had!"
