I stepped outside of the hospital for a moment to myself, I know he was awake and doing well now, but this could've just been luck, what if next time he doesn't make it?

Yeah, I guess I enjoy overthinking more than being happy.

It was a relatively harsh morning, the wind blowing harder than usual, and the sky grey with melancholy, fine fog coating buildings and skyscrapers til they disappeared.

I stared out into the sky, until a sweet yet oaky fragrance came around me, without even looking, without even the need of any words, I could tell who it was.

Simply from the feeling of his presence, and the fragrance he carried along with himself.

Jake stood beside me, observing the sky as I did too.

"The weather really adds to today's shittiness." Jake let out a light chuckle, as I turned my head to look at him, observing his side profile with little to no shame.

I snapped myself out of it surprisingly quick, staring down to the ground for a moment.

"Small talking is crazy." I gave a small laugh over his attempt to converse with me. He found this amusing too.

"I didn't know what else to start with, I mean, your brother is in the hospital, what can I really say?" Jake always carried about this sweet, friendly smile with him, I don't know, I have never seen him with anything less on his face.

He stared at my face, and I stared at his, but out of fluster, I looked away first, giving a few quiet laughs over the awkward tension over us.

"I guess I appreciate your attempt to make conversation." I gave a shallow inhale, despite how moody the weather looked today, it felt oddly comforting.

Or maybe it was the fact that Jake was just stood by me, either way.

"See now you're making it awkward, what am I supposed to respond with to that?" Jake chuckled, his eyes making it clear that they were intrigued in my face.

"Just change the topic, now you've made it so that I can't respond to that." We both had smiles on our faces, and I'm pretty sure my cheeks were beginning to hurt.

"SIM JAEYUN!" A very familiar voice came yelling from afar, followed by a hospital slipper that had been launched past our faces.

We both turned back to look at what was going on, and honestly, I don't even understand why Heeseung was in here, he seemed fine enough to me.

He was in a wheelchair, with his friends pushing him down the hallways towards the exit of the hospital.

"What is your issue man? I already said my sister is off-limits. You can get so many girls, every other girl, but not Ji-eun." Heeseung stood up, which genuinely almost took me aback - cause was the wheelchair just here for the exaggeration?

"I'm not even hitting on her, we're just talking, relax." Jake chuckled, placing his hands slightly in his pockets, not phased at how Heeseung disliked how he was speaking to me.

"Ji-eun, if he even tries to make any moves on you, let me know, I'll hit him with my own motorcycle." Heeseung snapped his eyes to look at me, glaring at me with such seriousness.

"Hey, what's the issue with Jake? He's a handsome fella, got money, why doesn't he get the stamp of approval?" Sunghoon joked, a wide grin on his face as Heeseung turned around, very slowly, to stare at Sunghoon.

"You will be next Sunghoon." Heeseung simply stated calmly, and before the conversation could continue with this topic, Yeju spoke.

"Hey Jake, if you're not busy, could you drop me off to work?" Yeju sweetly spoke, lurking around Jake, she held his arm gently swinging it as she waited for a response.

Before even replying, Jake glanced over to me, but quickly looked away and to Yeju, taking his car keys out of his pockets and swinging them around his finger.

"Yeah, sure." And with that, the two walked off into the distance.

"You're so worried for what." I rolled my eyes at Heeseung, seeing how he threw himself to sit back down on the wheelchair, giving the largest exhale of relief upon seeing Jake gone.

"God, I think I'm about to go into cardiac arrest." Heeseung dramatically held his chest, grasping at the hospital outfit tightly.

I just stared at him, dumbfounded and not impressed in the slightest way.

"You know what, don't even play stupid right now." I grabbed the handles of his wheelchair, driving him back towards his room without his friends.

The second the door to his room shut, he stood up, proceeding to sit on his bed instead and cross his arms.

"Is there seriously nothing between you and Jake?" Heeseung began, and I just gave a groan, the look on my face really spoke for itself.

"Literally nothing, why are you getting grey hairs over him and me." I folded my arms, just staring at him as he thought for a moment.
