"So, happy birthday Ji-eun." Jake chuckled, I stared over at his face, droplets of water running down his jaw.
"Been an eventful birthday this year." I replied with a short, breathy laugh. I rest the towel on my forearm, leaning onto the balcony railing as we both looked out.
"Can tell, never would've thought of you the girl to just jump into the pool like that." Jake mentioned, looking over to my house.
"What'd you know, bakery owner by day, whore by night." I jokingly replied, shrugging as Jake just held his breath, looking over at me with literally no shame.
He pressed his lips together lightly, taking in my face in such detail to the point where he didn't even say anything.
"I see why Heeseung doesn't want you talking to guys." Jake cut his staring off, gazing out into the sky once more, with a decently large sigh.
"Really? I don't get his problem to be honest, he says he wants me to have a boyfriend, but the second I even mention a guy, he's already hired hitmen to take him down." I gave a sigh, resting my cheek on my hand as I looked out onto the road.
"If you were mine, I'd be the same." Jake lowly spoke, not even looking at me as he said that.
I lift my head up, looking over at him, just to make sure I heard him right. Did this guy seriously just say what I think he did? Or am I hearing things all of a sudden.
"Huh? What'd you say?" I blinked blankly at him, he wasn't looking at me, just out at the landscape.
I swallowed hard, this thumping feeling in my heart increasing in pace and momentum. Damn, what the hell Jake?
"You stop by the bakery today?" He swiftly changed the topic, leaving me completely dumbfounded and confused.
My words came out as a confused stutter at first, but I quickly grabbed ahold of myself.
".. Uh, yeah, I did." I let out some, disappointed sigh at the end of my sentence, causing Jake to look over at me.
"What's with the tone? Something happen?" He inquired, this time looking over at me. I pouted lightly, feeling a little conflicted inside.
"Well, it was fine at first, but then Yoonsik confessed to me." I pressed my lips into a thin line, over hearing my words, all Jake did was give a laugh.
"No kidding?" Jake seemed undoubtedly amused by my words.
"I'm serious, why are you laughing?" I had a bright grin on my face too, seeing how he was literally laughing at this.
"Just couldn't believe that he did that at first, but then again, he does seem like a guy to pull something like that." Jake shook his head with a cute smile, "So, what'd you say?"
I looked over to him, glaring at him, this guy was now clearly acting dumb. I knew him enough to know that he wasn't dumb, and could clearly deduce answers easily.
So why the hell does he need me to say it?
"I didn't say anything." I shrugged, and Jake shot his head to look at me, wondering why.
"What? Really?" He stared at me as I looked over at him, our eyes locking.
"Phone call cut me off, I just told him I'll get back to him, but now that I think of it, I have no idea what to do." I gave an exasperated sigh, but looking at his face, seemed to ease all worries.
".. Am I hearing this right?" Jake scoffed, giving a faint smile, "You have no idea what to do?"
I looked into his sharp eyes, and the answer seemed clear to me, very clear, but I'm too nice to just tell Yoonsik that I don't like him because I'm into my brother's best friend instead.
I'd feel bad, real bad. And not to mention how awkward the next shift with him would be.
Out of all days, why would he have to confess now?
I swallowed hard, Jake stared at me intently, reading my face. I know there was something bound to happen between us, the tension was reaching it's peak.
I watched as every water droplet carefully traced his face, down to his neck. His skin could be seen through his wet t-shirt, and honestly, I'm surprised my self control was even this good.
"Well.. I mean.." The air suddenly ceased into silence, and I'm pretty sure the only thing I could hear was my breathing, and the raucous of my own heartbeat.
"Seems like you need help with deciding." A smirk tinged Jake's lips, and I just watched as his lip curved upwards slightly, then I gazed back into his eyes.
Another droplet of water made its way down his cheek, and since the moment was starting to feel so heated, I moved my hand on his cheek, moving the droplet out of the way.
In that moment, we sort of attracted to each other, like magnets almost. He pulled my lips to his, and before I even knew it, I was kissing my brother's best friend.
We spared no air, nothing, it was rather intense if I could say so myself. My hands rested on his chest, while his, both, on either sides of my waist, and just like that, he deepened the kiss.
