Scarlett seethed with frustration, struggling to manage the situation with composure. However, she couldn't simply overlook it. Doing so would be akin to condoning her husband's actions. She refused to let this pass without addressing it firmly. Despite her throbbing headache, she made herself presentable and settled into bed with her laptop. She was determined to fully assess the situation before allowing herself to rest.
In the morning, Tristian had departed for work without inquiring about Scarlett's sudden travel plans, leaving her feeling disregarded. She had decided to leave by morning.
Tristian returned home in a state of distress and entered their bedroom to find his wife already asleep. She looked stunning, draped in one of his shirts with her hair splayed across the pillow. Her pregnancy had only enhanced her beauty, and he found himself unable to look away from her.
Over the past few weeks, he had longed to make love to her but circumstances hadn't allowed for it. His demanding work schedule had prevented him from accompanying her to appointments since she became pregnant.
As Tristian stepped into the bathroom, the steam from the hot shower already fogging up the mirrored surfaces, he felt the weight of the day begins to lift from his shoulders. The scalding water cascaded over him, soothing his skin and washing away the tension that had been building within him.
Lost in thought, he couldn't help but marvel at the depth of emotions his wife evoked in him. Her presence was like a balm to his soul, a soothing touch that made the world seem right again. With a soft chuckle, he acknowledged the power she had over him, the way she could stir his heart with a single glance or a tender word.
Drying off and slipping into a pair of comfortable joggers, Tristian made his way back to the bedroom, where his wife lay waiting for him. With a gentle touch, he pulled her close, feeling the warmth of her body against his own. As he wrapped his arms around her, he felt a surge of love and gratitude for this woman who had chosen to share her life with him.
Nuzzling his face into her hair, he inhaled deeply, committing her scent to memory. In this moment, surrounded by the comforting embrace of his wife, Tristian felt a sense of peace and contentment wash over him. Here, in the arms of the woman he loved, he knew he was home.
The following morning, Tristian awoke to find himself alone in bed. His frustration and anger were palpable as he leaped out of bed with clenched teeth. He couldn't believe she had left without a proper farewell. Despite any provocation on his part, he felt that her departure without a proper goodbye was unjust. Tristian hastily dialed his assistant's number while reaching for a shirt.
Meanwhile, Luke was still fast asleep; it was only 5:30 in the morning, and he resented being disturbed during his precious sleep. Groggily irritated, he grabbed the phone and glanced at the caller ID, finding all his irritation dissipated upon seeing Tristian's name.
"I need you to delay her flight," Tristian said, his tone cold and determined.
Luke swiftly placed a series of calls before reaching out to Tristian within fifteen minutes. By then, Tristian was already en route to the airport, the urgency evident in Luke's inquiry, "Have you completed the task?"
"No, sir. She departed an hour ago," Tristian's exasperated sigh resonated as he navigated the road. Helplessness, frustration, and self-directed anger swirled within him; the futility of the situation weighed heavily. Compelled to pivot the car homeward, he begrudgingly accepted the inevitable wait for his wife. Were it not for his sons, he would have undoubtedly boarded the next flight bound for Tokyo.
