Poppy and Branch get a Christmas tree.
When Branch and Poppy decided it was time to decorate their shared pod for Christmas the two of them went back and forth on if they should get a real tree or not. The debate between the couple lasted almost up to the week before the actual holiday, when the two of them finally agreed that the tree should be real.
Poppy and Branch instantly rushed out that moment, in search of the perfect tree. The Pop Queen found it of course, sold by Poppy's best friends boyfriend that was friendly, and explained to them each personality of every tree.
“So, this one,” The young vet began. “Is one that will bring two lovers together.”
The teal troll sputtered. “W-What?”
Poppy giggled softly then gently pressed the seller on his comment. “Oh, and why will this one bring lovers together.”
The troll grinned. “Because, it’s meant to be a couples first tree.”
Poppy's eyes lit up and she looked up at Branch, who blushed and sputtered again, before offering the money to the seller.
“We’ll take it!”
Milton nodded, and moved to help Branch strap the tree to the wagon. Excitement of course bubbled in Poppy's chest, as she gently kissed Branch's cheek, thanked the seller and they walked home.
When they arrived Poppy moved to unstrap the tree from the car only to have Branch put his hand on hers gently.
“Don’t worry Babe, I got this.”
The Pop Queen blinked then huffed. “There is no way you can carry this by yourself, up a huge tree!”
The teal troll grinned at Poppy. “It’s not heavy. I’m stronger than I look!”
Poppy smirked a little, and rolled her eyes a bit before she looked at the tree, then the branch stairs. “Branchifer, baby, please let me help you…AH!”
The Pop Queen blinked, her hand coming up to her lips as Branch struggled to get the tree up onto his shoulder, and with a grunt, managed to balance it just so.
“I-I got it, let’s go!”
Poppy bit her lower lip, watching him tremble a little as the teal troll took that first tentative step forward. With a grunt, he placed his foot on the bottom stair.
“Branch! Please let me help!”
He laughed, breathless. “Nah, I-I got it. Go up ahead of me…nnh…I need you to open the door.”
Poppy frowned a bit but nodded and turned to quickly head up the stairs. Once at her pod door, she opened it, and propped it open, then waited. And waited. And waited. With a slight fidget the pink troll moved to the top of the stairs, only to hear him grunt softly as Branch hefted it up the staircase.
“Branch?” The Pop Queen called.
She got a loud grunt as a reply before she rushed down the flight of stairs to find him just getting to the second. Branch was sweating, and panting heavily but he gave her a bit of a smile, before he groaned and put the tree down on the second landing.
“Hah…Ok, m-maybe I do need help.”
Poppy laughed softly as she moved close to him, gently rubbing his arms a little before leaning up to press a kiss to his jaw. Branch blushed brightly.
“Gah?! D-Don’t do that! I’m all sweaty!”
Giggling she smiled. “Don’t care, c’mon, let’s get this awesome tree inside.”
The couple with a few small struggles managed to wrestle the tree into their pod. When they set it on the stand however, the top bent down as it was much too tall for their small pod. Poppy and Branch blinked at each other before the two of them burst out laughing.
“Well,” Poppy said with her hands on her hips. “I guess we’ll have to put the star only kinda near the top.”
Branch chuckled as he gently slipped his arms between hers, wrapping them about Poppy's waist to pull her against him. He rested his chin on her shoulder, and nuzzled his cheek against hers.
“No matter, It’s perfect. Merry Christmas Babe.”
