((Songs are 'Fear of Water' and 'Godlight' by Noah Kahan and (an adaptation of) parts of 'City Of Angels' by Em Beihold. Some other songs are mentioned by name, artists credited in-text.))

((Furina is like Taylor Swift levels of famous.))

((Reminder, I don't own these songs.))

You didn't know who she was anymore. Furina used to be your best friend a long time ago. When she was a small, struggling singer. You wrote songs for her. You were a songwriter for small singers like her back then, because you could write some absolute bangers but you were too afraid to sing yourself. Later, when you gained the inspiration and courage to, that dream was taken from you. Because of the incident you refused to speak of, because of Furina. You'd known her since you were kids. So you never did the paperwork properly. Furina credited her first few songs to you as the writer. Then she switched up and claimed credit. For your songs. Because of the faulty paperwork- actually, no, you could probably sue her anyway. Because you trusted and loved Furina, you let her take it. She had her big break with one of your songs: I Lost Myself. ((Munn))

Then she got a nice contract, a bigger songwriter, and never spoke to you again. So that turned out fucking great. You saw recordings of Furina's shows sometimes. And you couldn't recognize her. She was a completely different person. She wasn't the quiet girl with the song in her heart anymore. She was the greatest, most-loved singer/artist on the planet. What she was doing was more acting than singing at this point. You were happy for her, you suppose. You still couldn't get over how she just used you like some sort of ladder, but hey, that's life.

Some kid comes in to your office. You're still in the same small office you were in all that time ago. Although you have some reputation in the industry now. Here's what Spotify had to say about you.

Known as a certified kingmaker with their lyrics , Y/N  L/N is famous for writing for and popularizing artists like Venti the Bard and Kaedehara Kazuha, among others.

Any artist would be lucky to have their soulful and heart-rendering lyrics.

Venti and Kazuha were pretty big now, but they still worked with you. They were ranked #7 and #13 on Spotify at the moment, so yeah. Take that how you will. Furina was #1, of course.

The kid looks at you, "Hi! I'm Hu Tao! I was referred here by my agent, Tartaglia."

Childe told you he was sending some young talent your way, was this it?

You extend your hand, "Y/N. Pleasure to meet you. How can I help?"

She seems surprised at how your voice sounds.

"I need a couple of songs...? I thought that's what you did?"

"I do. Gimme more details. Genre. Themes. Emotions. Rough Notes, anything."

"I wanna do rap. But gentle, like Furina does sometimes. In fact, anything even comparable to her songs is okay!" She then describes the rest of the info you asked for.

"I can give you better stuff than Furina's songs." You sound smug, but you know you can.

"No... you can't." Hu Tao looks like you told her you can touch the Sun.

"Look up who her first songwriter was."

Hu Tao clacks at her phone for a moment. "NO WAY! I MUST HAVE YOU NOW." She squeals.

"Deal. I'll contact you when I'm done. Any deadlines?"

"I'm in no rush. What's your price?"

"We'll see when I'm done. depends how much effort goes into it."
