"are you sure you're okay? because if you don't want to do any of the activities today, i understand. i don't even wanna face kourtney today." i said to callum as he walked out of the bathroom.

callum emerged from the bathroom, now dressed in a casual t-shirt and shorts. he paused, sensing my concern. he walked over to me and placed a gentle hand on my shoulder. "i'm alright, really. i don't want kourtney to ruin our whole vacation."

i looked up at him, searching his eyes for any hint of discomfort or pain. he seemed genuinely stoic, but i couldn't shake the nagging feeling of worry. "but your chin... it still looks red."

callum touched his chin gingerly, wincing slightly. "yeah, it's a bit sore, but it's alright. it'll heal." he reassured me, trying to minimize the extent of his injury.

i sighed, still uneasy about him going about his day without properly recovering. "maybe you should take it easy today. just to be safe." i suggested gently.

callum shook his head stubbornly, clearly not wanting to back down. "i'm not gonna let kourtney's drunken antics ruin my vacation. besides, i'm used to playing through pain, remember?" he said jokingly.

"you played football back in highschool callum, that was like...over 10 years ago." i said.

callum chuckled, rolling his eyes at my statement. "yeah, yeah, i know. but the pain tolerance stays, trust me." he replied, trying to shrug off my concern.

"i'm sorry." i said softly, avoiding eye contact.

callum immediately noticed my change in demeanor and stepped closer, gently lifting my chin so i would look at him. "hey, why are you apologizing? you didn't do anything wrong."

i sighed and shrugged, "i feel partly responsible. i mean i did ask you to help her get to the villa."

callum's expression softened as he looked at me, his eyes filled with understanding. "kacey, you didn't force me to do anything. i chose to go. it's not your fault."

i couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. "i know, but it was still my idea." i mumbled, my voice quiet.

callum gently cupped my cheek, his thumb tracing soft circles. "stop blaming yourself. kourtney was the one who got drunk and threw a punch. that's on her, not you." he said firmly.

i took a deep breath, his words a small comfort. "i guess you're right. i just can't help but feel guilty, ya know?" i admitted.

callum nodded understandingly. "i understand, but you don't need to feel responsible for kourtney's actions. she's a grown woman and she needs to deal with the consequences of her choices." he said, his tone gentle yet firm.

i leaned into his touch, feeling some of the guilt and worry melting away. "yeah, i know. i just hate seeing you hurt." i said, my voice soft.

callum gave me a small smile. "i appreciate your concern, but i can handle a few punches." he teased, trying to lighten the mood.

DINING HALL
bora bora, french polynesia
9:30am

we made our way to the dining hall, the rest of the family already seated. kourtney, travis and rocky were absent, which came as no surprise to either of us.

khloé caught sight of us as we approached and waved us over. "morning, lovebirds." she said, a sly smile on her face.

i rolled my eyes at her comment, while callum just chuckled. "morning, khloé." i greeted as we took our seats.
