It was almost end of shift and it was raining cats and dogs outside "What are you up to after shift?" Lucy asked "Well I was going for a run but not anymore" Tim replied looking outside and Lucy smiled.
"All units, report to Rock Creek Lane possible drug case" they suddenly heard over the radio and they reported. As they arrived everyone was already at the parking lot in the pouring rain, even Captain Andersen and sargent Grey were there on which Tim and Lucy frowned "Alright, now that everyone is here" Andersen began as everyone gathered around her.
"So we got a tip that there is a drug deal going down in about 20 minutes" She added "So, we will split up, take your place and then we wait" Grey added as they discussed the raid further and everyone took their positions, everyone in or behind cars. After about 30 minutes nothing had happened yet and Andersen called it off "Alright, well that was a waste of time and resources" Andersen added as everyone gathered again but Lucy kept hearing things, like footsteps but very faintly.
She tried to focus on Andersen's words but the noises grew louder and louder, she frowned at the thought that no one else was hearing it or reacting to it. Tim looked over to her as she kept glancing around her as if she was looking for something "Chen, why the hell are you not fucking focused? Your captain is speaking to you," Bradford's voice echoed, trying to whisper but failing to hide his frustration "Do you not hear that?" she asked, her voice tinged with urgency. "No, now focus," Tim barked, rolling his eyes.
The entire team fell silent, except for Tim's insistent commands and Andersen frowned. "Shut up for a moment," Lucy snapped, her tone firm. Tim looked offended but complied, as did the rest of the team and the sounds of the footsteps stopped and now it was clear to Lucy. "It's a set-up," Lucy declared, grabbing her gun as followed the rest. Lucy stood next to Andersen and Tim as she glanced around, looking from where she had heard the footsteps. Suddenly, a dagger flew toward Captain Andersen's head. Lucy saw it coming out of the corner of her eye and reacted instinctively, catching the knife just inches from Andersen's face.
Time seemed to freeze for Andersen, her life saved by Lucy's quick reflexes. The blade sliced deep into Lucy's hand as she dropped it, blood beginning to flow. Lucy threw herself in front of Andersen, her protective instincts kicking in. Another dagger came flying, hitting Lucy in the arm as she shielded the captain. She grunted in pain, but remained steadfast, her body a barrier between Andersen and the onslaught.
Bullets started flying from unknown attackers, and the officers behind the shop took cover. Grey and Tim returned fire, the sharp cracks of their guns cutting through the chaos. Lucy, bleeding, dragged Andersen behind the shop to safety. Just as they rounded the corner, a bullet struck Lucy in the vest, the impact knocking the wind out of her. She stumbled, momentarily unable to move.
"BOOT" Tim shouted, urgency in his voice. Nyla, now armed with a rifle, fired back alongside Nolan. Tim and Grey grabbed Lucy's arms, careful of the knife still embedded in her flesh, and pulled her to safety. She slumped against the shop door, gasping for breath.
"Boot, where are you shot?!" Angela yelled over the rain that began to pour, making everything more chaotic and blurred everyone's vision. Lucy did a body check "The vest caught it!" Lucy shouted back, realizing the knife was still in her arm. "BOOT, get the captain to safety!" Tim ordered, still firing rounds. Lucy scrambled to her feet, assessing the best route to get Andersen out of the danger zone. She grabbed Andersen's arm.
"BACK ME UP!" she shouted to Tim, who continued to lay down covering fire. With Andersen in tow, Lucy ran towards their squad car. The rain mixed with the blood on her arm, but she didn't care about the pain. She started the car and sped away, locking eyes with one of the shooters as they escaped. "Ma'am are you hurt?!" Lucy asked in a hurry "no, I'm fine" Andersen replied out of breath.
"Do you have your phone?" Lucy asked hastily. "No, it fell out," Andersen replied, checking her pockets. Lucy grabbed her phone and handed it to Andersen, blood all over the steering wheel and now on her phone from the slice in her hand and her stab wound. "Could you hold this?" she asked. "Who is it?" Andersen asked, but Lucy didn't answer as Keith picked up the call.
"Hey, Lydia, what's up?" he replied and Andersen frowned at the name use "Keith, are you still with Metro?!" Lucy almost shouted into the phone. "Yeah, yeah, I am. What's going on?!" Keith's voice was tense with distress. "Get your ass to Rock Creek Lane, there's an active shooting, and patrol needs help, NOW," Lucy ordered urgently, the sound of sirens blaring in the background.
"Alright, where are you?" Keith asked, the sound of him giving orders to his team audible in the background. "I'm fine. Get over there, I'll report to paramedics," Lucy replied as she hung up, her focus on the road. Andersen looked a bit confused but complied when Lucy asked, "Ma'am, in my contacts, there's a person called Bailey. Could you call her?!" (In this scenario Bailey and Nolan were already dating) Andersen nodded and scrolled through Lucy's phone, finding the contact and dialing. "Hey, Lucy, what's up?" Bailey answered.
"Hey, I'm so sorry but I don't have a lot of time. Can you report to Rock Creek Lane? There's a shooting going on there," Lucy said quickly, her voice steady but urgent. "Yes, yes," Bailey responded, immediately starting to relay orders to her team. "Are you alright?!" she added, concern evident in her tone. "Yes, I'm fine, but could you maybe send someone to the station? I have a stab wound," Lucy replied, glancing at her bleeding arm. "Yes, my team is on its way," Bailey assured her before they hung up.
Andersen turned to Lucy, her expression a mix of concern and curiosity. "Alright, who was who?" "Ehh, Keith, Metro captain. I have known him since I was a kid. And Bailey is a paramedic and Nolan's girlfriend," Lucy explained as she maneuvered the car through the streets, adrenaline still coursing through her veins. As they pulled up to the station. At the same time, Metro arrived at the scene on Rock Creek Lane as backup, the flashing lights reflecting off the wet pavement. "Hey, my team is on its way now, are you alright?" Bailey asked as she sat her medical stuff down and looked at Lucy's wound.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just please remove the knife out of my arm and get me stitched up" Lucy said as she sat down "Do you know how long the blade might be?" Bailey asked as she disinfected the area on Lucy's arm "yeah, it's a dagger so probably around ⅔ inches" Lucy said and Bailey nodded "Ma'am are you hurt?" Bailey asked Andersen as she sat down next to Lucy "No, I'm fine, just some bruising but no injuries" Zoe replied.
"Alright, Lucy, we need to get you to a hospital to get stitched up" Bailey said but Lucy shook her head "No, I'm sorry but I need to get my daughter in about half an hour and I have a very high pain tolerance so please just stitch me up without medication" Lucy said "I can have somebody from the station pick her up if its causing a problem?" Andersen implied and Lucy smiled "Thank you ma'am but she will never go with people who she doesn't know so that won't work" Lucy said and Andersen grinned.
"Lucy's it's going to hurt quite a bit, are you sure?" Bailey asked and Lucy smiled "Yes, I'm very sure" "alright" Bailey responded as she gently pulled the knife out and Lucy didn't even flinch, her expression remaining steady. "Alright, I'm going to stitch things up now and look at that hand" Bailey added and Lucy nodded "Is there any way we can check on patrol and Metro?" Lucy asked and Zoe shook her head.
"They're not responding to the porto's so we just have to hear from medical" Zoe replied and Lucy nodded, Lucy got stitched up, got a pressure sleeve and then went to pick up Mia. "Baby, mommy is fine. She'll be alright," Lucy reassured Mia as they walked back into the station, but Mia was still crying a bit. "Baby, you know the rule. You can't cry unless you tell me why you are crying," Lucy said gently as she sat next to Bailey, who was trying to get in contact with her crew. Mia sniffled, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.
"I was scared, Mommy. I thought you were hurt really badly." Lucy pulled Mia into a comforting hug. "I understand, sweetheart. But see? I'm right here, and I'm okay," she said, stroking Mia's hair. "Now, don't you look like your mother?" Bailey asked as she tickled Mia a bit and she giggles as Lucy sat her on the chair next to her.
