It had been more than two weeks since Y/N started at her new school but things hadn't gotten easier.

Each day felt like a battle and the absence of Jungkook who was in Seoul for his exams made everything worse. She missed him and found it hard to share her feelings with anyone else.

She did her best but the constant bullying again from Jisu and her friends made her already affected life more worse.

She tried to stay strong and not let it affect her. Everytime she thought she was getting a  handle on things but  something would happen that ended her up in fights.

All these things led Mrs. Jeon frustrated and her attitude towards her seemed to grow more colder.

Mrs. Jeon was annoyed with her behaviour seeing her as stubborn and ungrateful. Mrs. Jeon wanted to understand her but she stubbornness and silence made it hard. At home, she refused to talk to anyone.

It was another exhausting day. I couldn't hide my frustration any longer. After dinner, I decided to talk to Jaehyuk about Y/n. We sat in living room.

"Jaehyuk. I can’t take this anymore" I started my voice tight with frustration. "It’s been more than two weeks and her behavior isn’t changing. She’s stubborn ungrateful, and constantly getting into fights at school."

"She’s going through a lot. Losing her parents moving to a new place starting a new school. She needs time Sohee" Jaehyuk replied trying to remain calm.

I shook my head feeling my temper rise, gritted my teeth I respond "Time? How much more time she wants? She’s causing problems at school and look at her attitude it isn't any better at home.

She doesn’t even defend herself. She always stays silent and makes things worse for herself and fir everyone."

Jaehyuk sighed "We have to be patient Sohee. She’s just a child."

I couldn’t hold back my temper any longer and bursted. "Do you remember the promise you made to Daehyun"

Jaehyuk looked confused. "What are you talking about?"

"The promise to engage our son and her when she turns 18".  I said, my voice trembling with anger.

"H-h..ow do you know ab..out that?" Jaehyuk stutter asked stunned.

I was walking by the backyard garden, when I overheard Jaehyuk and Daehyun talking. I stood behind the pillar listening to their conversation.

"Dae. I’m deeply grateful for your help" Jaehyuk said.

"You know I’d do anything for you, Jaehyuk. But I need your promise on something important" Daehyun replied.

"Of course, anything" Jaehyuk agreed.

"When Y/N turns 18. I want her engaged to Jungkook."

I felt my world tilt. I had been happy and grateful to Daehyun about the financial help but this promise was just too much.

I wanted to confront both of them but knew it wasn’t the right time. I decided to stay silent for now.

I shook my head "I can never accept her as Jungkook’s wife. She’s just a niece to me, nothing more" I said firmly.

Jaehyuk was shocked and tried to explain but I was not going to change my decision. "I will never accept her" I repeated.

What they didn't know that Y/n had overheard the entire conversation from the hallway. Her heart shattered into pieces.

She felt like unwanted burden. Tears streamed down her face as she ran into her room. She threw herself on her bed, and started sobbing, thinking that she was Just a burden, for them and nothing else.

She felt worse knowing Mrs. Jeon thought of her a burden. She wanted to return to Seoul. The loneliness and the sadness making her everyday a struggle.

The next day Jungkook returned back Busan after his exam. As soon as he got home he heard from the farm workers and the cook that she had gotten into another fight at school.

They also mentioned how frustrated and anger his mom was with everything, related to her.

This news made him sad. He felt sorry for her and couldn't believe his mom was behaving like this with her.

That evening he decided to talk to her. He approached her with a bright smile, hoping to cheer her up."Hello Kiddio!!" he said warmly.

She looked up at him a small smile and flicker of happiness radiate in her eyes.

She was glad that he was back from Seoul, But the conversation between Mr and Mrs Jeon she had overheard about their engagement. Did he already know about this? She thought.

NO!! he couldn't have. If he knew he would surely confronted his parents and she decided not to bring it up.

They talked for a bit but she soon said "I'm sleepy Jungkook. See you tomorrow, Good Night." She forced a smile and went back to her room.

Jungkook watched her going feeling a pang of sadness for her. He could clearly see the sadness and hurt in her eyes and determined to cheer her mood up.

He decided to call his friends he rembered how she seemed to get comfortable around them during the karaoke night.

He immediately called his friends and told them about her sad behaviour. They all agreed to come to Busan, the next day to spend time together.

It had been a long time since they all spent time together and Jungkook hoped this would lift her mood.

While Y/n lay on her bad, thinking about the engagement conversation and she couldn't shake off the feeling of sadness. Eventhough she was a bit happy that Jungkook was back.
