Admitting Feelings

I woke up to see Vox had moved me under the covers. I was laying on my side with Vox spooning me from behind. It all hit me. He told me he loved me. I know it wasn't true. I even said it back to make him feel better. I know I loved him but he couldn't love me. I was beneath him. He probably just said it because he was so out of it from our sexual activities. I repositioned my arm and felt my heart rate increase.
"You ok?" Vox mumbled.
"Sorry I didn't mean to wake you," I said.
"Oh you didn't I've been awake for an hour," Vox said. "I've been studying your breaths."
"Creepy," I added.
"Yes quite," Alastor said from the shadows.
"Fuckin Hell," I said hiding more under the covers.
"What the fuck are you doing in here!" Vox yelled as he sat up.
"I came to see why you two didn't make it to breakfast, you over slept," Alastor said.
"You couldn't knock?!" Vox yelled.
"Now where's the fun in that!" Alastor said. "Lucifer is coming by for dinner so make your best impressions."
Alastor's left in the shadows. Vox fell back to the bed.
"He still likes you," I teased.
"Fuck I don't need that," Vox said. "Val already hates you. I don't need an ex to hate you as well."
"So you are still with Val?" I asked.
"Fuck I don't know," Vox said. "Probably not once I tell him that I fell in love with you."
I felt a deep blush go across my cheeks and spread down to my neck. He just admitted to it again.
"You don't actually love me," I whispered.
Vox had his arm over his screen but he moved it a little to look at me.
"What?" Vox said.
"You think you do but you don't," I said. "At first I was a fun plaything. Then your lover sold me to your worse enemy. That caused you to get territorial. Now you just want me back so you can claim me again. Once I am able to resign, you'll forget about me. I'm just a sinner. I'm property."
Vox stared at me. I felt my tears starting form in my eyes. They stung but I wasn't going to let them fall at least not in front of Vox. I looked at my hands.
"Is that what you think this is?" Vox asked.
"What else could it be?" I said my voice shaking.
"If I open my heart up to you right now, would you believe me?" Vox asked as he sat up and placed gentle hands on my shoulder.
"What?" I asked feeling once tear escape.
Vox turned me to face him. He placed one hand on the cheek where the tear fell. He took his other hand into mine. He was looking deep into my eyes.
"I will admit this started off as I was lonely and wanted fun for one night. You seemed hot enough and you definitely were a great decision. But then I realized you were funny and you get me for some reason. I knew what I wanted and I just ignored it for so long. I wanted a true relationship. One with someone I can trust. Someone who gets me and someone who will follow me. A partner."
"You have Val," I said.
"Val doesn't worship me like you, you actually love me and willing to work with me in this relationship," Vox added.
"You mean it?" I asked.
"Of course, I want you to be by my side," Vox added. "Look I came to this shitty place to make sure you are safe and I couldn't sit in that tower for one more minute without you. That's how I knew what I wanted."
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," Vox said back. "My plan is someday to marry you and have you rule by my side."
"I'm not a ruler," I laughed.
"No but you are great company," Vox said with a laugh.
