Wednesday

Olivia sits under a shade in the school waiting for Jordan as she works on her laptop.

Jordan: Hey sis.

Olivia: Hey.

Jordan: I didn't keep you waiting. I am right on time.(He says with a straight face)

Olivia: I never said you kept me waiting, dummy. I came here early actually.

Jordan: Oh! Is there a problem?

Olivia: No, i just needed to be away from the hostel.

Jordan: Did you make the team?

Olivia: (smiles) Yes, I did.

Jordan: (jumped up in excitement and gave her a hug) Why didn't you start with the good news? Fool.

Olivia: (laughs) I wanted to see if you would remember.

Jordan: Congratulations. What of Simone?

Olivia: (she smiles) We all made the team. In short, our meeting starts tomorrow.

Jordan: That is great. I am happy for you.(he smiles, then the smile gradually turns into a sad face.)

Olivia: Are you okay?

Jordan: Yea, I will be fine. I just remembered what Troy said about Simone.

Olivia: What did he say?

Jordan: It is nothing.

Olivia: You know you can actually talk to Simone, right? You have had a big crush on her since high school. What are you waiting for? Jordan.

Give it a shot. What is the highest that will happen? She will say, No, and you move on.

Jordan: As if it is that easy to move on. I mean, look at you, one sad event happened and you throw the keys to your heart away.

Olivia: Hmm, my situation was different. All I am saying is that, be a man and talk to her. Troy is beating you to it already.

Jordan: (smiles) It is not a competition. What is mine would not elude me. If she is meant to be mine, then she will be mine.

Olivia: Okay. If you say so. Just act fast. You snooze, you lose and boy; you are already losing.

Jordan: Changing the topic. Sooo, what about you? You still want to keep your heart locked?

Olivia: (smiles) Well, for now, yes.

Jordan: Liv, you need to give yourself a chance to be happy again. Don't let the event of the past change who you are. We were young in high school when it happened. Layla and the foolish guy involved have moved on already. You should do the same. Just because someone disappointed you doesn't mean others will.

Olivia: I know.(she plays with her fingers) but honestly, it is not even about that.

The constant me having to give up what I want to accommodate Layla is what i just got fed up with. And it is like every time I show interest in something or someone, that is exactly what she wants. It is tiring.

Right now, the only thing she can't take from me is my degree. I get the degree and I move out of her vicinity.

Jordan: I know and I understand you perfectly. Mom would do anything to please her.

Olivia: Yea, and it is like what I want doesn't even matter to her. (she wears a sad face) I am really tired of losing to her all the time. So right now, I will focus on my studies, dance and there is cheerleading. A relationship will only create drama.
