It had been two days since the grand army of the republic began its occupation of remnant. And much had been going on.
Detacthments of clone troops had been deployed all over the planet, securing areas to use for bases and helping to maintain order: arresting criminals, destroying militant white fang cells and so on. The only areas the army wasn't deployed to were atlas, due to it having its own military, and the dragon continent, due to the belief that nothing was capable of survival our their.
Most of the planet welcomed them, even if they did so hesitantly. Most faunus especially were grateful for them arriving, as the patrolling clone troopers lead to a rapid reduction in violence against faunus. While groups like the bandit tribes hates them for obvious reasons, and the upper classes of Vale hated how they had no control over them, they were forced to deal with it.
Within Vale, team rwby are walking through the street alongside their friend neo (forgot to mention in the disclaimer, neo isn't working for torchwick in this timeline), currently on a break from school after the attack on the city. As they walked, they came across multiple pairs of clone troopers patrolling the streets. Every time they passed by one, weiss gave off a grumble.
"ya got something to say weiss?" yang said, clearly annoyed.
"no. No I don't." weiss replied.
"really, cause you've been grumbling every time we pass those troopers."
'yeah, honestly, it's starting to get annoying.' neo signed.
"fine, you want to know the truth." weiss exclaimed. "I can't stand these troopers! They just showed up out of nowhere, expect everyone to be okay with them, and now it seems like their trying to show up atlas or something!"
"you know that's not true, weiss." Blake retorted. "they've already stated their mission is to track down insurgents."
"and how do we know that's what they're actually here for!? What if they're using that as an excuse to subjugate us!?"
At this point, everyone got tired of weiss rambling on about her conspiracy theories, and just began walking away. When the schnee realised, she simply let out a huff and began walking away.
As she walked, she looked up to see the space station in the sky that served as the Republic's headquaters. From where she was standing, It looked as large as atlas itself.
'if atlas had technology like that, we'd be unstoppable' the heiress through to herself as she continued looking. She then looked down down the street as she saw another trooper patrol.
'they might not believe me, but I'm certain this 'galactic Republic' is planning something. Whatever it is, I'm going to stop it, even if it means I have to do it alone'
She looked back up at the space station.
'and I'm certain any info on their plans is on that station. The question is... How to get there...'

Meanwhile, at atlas academy
Commander doom walked through the halls of atlas academy, accompanies by a pair of shock troopers. Ironwood had invited him personally, though he had no idea why.
Eventually, doom found his way to ironwoods office, where he found the general himself, sitting at his desk with a glass of alcohol. Beside him was his second in command, winter schnee, who kept a stern look about her as she eyed the clone with suspicion
"ah, commander" ironwood said, lifting his drink. "nice of you to agree to this meeting. Care for a drink?"
"no thanks, general, I'm not a drinker." doom replied. "if I may, what is this about."
Ironwood turned to winter, who promptly pressed a button on the desk, displaying a hologram of a small island.
"this is the island of menagerie." winter said to the commander. "it is considered to be a haven for the faunus of remnant, and as such, is also a rich environment for white fang operations, especially recutiment. In fact, we've discovered that the white fang leadership has made it's home on the island."
Doom looked confused.
"I thought taurus was the leader of the white fang."
"thats what we believed too." ironwood continued for winter. "however, we've since discovered that taurus and his soldiers were a radical branch of the white fang. Their real leader, Sienna kahn, has been completely in the dark about his operations."
Doom looked on with curiosity. But he also had another question.
"if this is so important, why call me. Why not send your own men."
"because for the past 50 years, the two kingoms have signed a treaty that no atlesian troops will land on menagerian soil. If I were to send my own men, there would be an international incident. But you're not atlas. You can arrive on the island and explain your situation. So commander, do we have a deal."
Ironwood held out his hand towards doom. The clone looked at the man's Prothstetic hand for a moment... Before shaking it.
"I assume you already have an idea of who you're going to send?" the general asked.
"oh, yes. I have just the man." doom replied, chuckling a bit.
The two shock troopers looked at each other and sighed. They knew exactly who he was talking about...
