Ashlyn grumbled to herself. She tapped her foot impatiently, waiting for her dad to be ready to go.
"Dad! Come on! You and Logan!"Logan tsked. "Sorry Mrs. Jack-o-head. I'm a little busy!"
"It's an overnight trip not a damn vacation!"
"I need my books!"
"You don't need that many books!"
"Then you don't need those useless headphones!"
"They're earplugs!"
"No not your earplugs!"
"Well excuse you but I like listening to tunes!"
"Well excuse you but you need wired ones! The Bluetooth makes me think you're ignoring me!"
"Not my problem."
"It's gonna be your problem when I chop those ugly noodles off your scalp—"
"Can you guys just get ready to leave? Please? Your dad and I would actually like some peace!" Emma snapped a little.
"Sorry mom.." Logan apologized.
Ashlyn scoffed. "You act like me and Logan bicker like this all the time. I only do this cause he's a little shit."
"That has us all wrapped around his damn finger." Mike joked.
"No that's just you, your weak to your children." Emma and Ashlyn both spat.
Mike grunted. "I would say why is Logan the only nice one but I know better so.."
"Hey!" Logan yelled back.
Mike laughed. Ashlyn groaned. "Oh my god you'd think you two are middle school girls in a bathroom talking—Just hurry the fuck up!"
"The more you tell me to hurry up the SLOWER I will GO!" Logan snapped back.
Mike cackled, hunching over and wheezing. They didn't fight often, but when they did it was pure gold. God, he loved his kids.
Emma groaned. She loved her kids, but she couldn't wait for the blissful silence that would follow for a night. Maybe then her and Mike could finish that show they were watching.
After what seemed like ages, Logan and Mike came down. Logan's backpack bulged a little, and he fiddled with his fingers a bit. Nervous, but excited. Mike twirled his car keys on his finger.
"Ready to go?""No, no actually I think I'll wait five more minutes." Ashlyn snapped.
Mike and Logan laughed. "Alright alright, we're going." Mike chuckled.
They got in the jeep, finally driving off to the school. Mike sighed. "Excited?"
"Yep!"
"Not really."
Mike sighed. "Alright, well if anything happens, call us ok? And stay close, and—"
"Don't worry dad, we'll be careful!" Logan smiled, masking his anxiety well. He was excited for this trip, but also terrified. He wanted to try though. And Emma was right. He really needed to get out of his shell. And stop using Ashlyn as a safety blanket. It wasn't fair to him or to her.
Finally, they pulled up to the school. They took out their bags, and said their goodbyes to their dad. They walked over to the bus. Ashlyn sighed.
"Can't believe I let you and dad rope me into this.""I'm sure it'll be fine..!" Logan tried to be positive. Ashlyn glared at him.
Aiden came up behind the two, Ben right behind him. Aiden flashed his grin, wrapping his arms around the two.
"So glad you two came! You made it seem like you weren't going to go."Ashlyn grunted. Yeah. Sure he was.
"Oh by the way," Aiden continued. "Can I sit next to ya on the bus ash?"
Ashlyn glared at him. Lord, give her strength or an untraceable handgun.

Eight hours later, and they were finally at Savanah. Logan's as amazed by the scenery, it All looked so..well..historic! Ashlyn was less impressed. Talk about creepy. She stretched, not caring about the concerned look her brother was giving her and the cringe looks the others shot her. Aiden was impressed.Seemed like he would be impressed by anything though.
They walked around the creepy streets of Savannah in awkward silence. Logan was the first to break it.
"So..what should we do first?" He asked, eyes darting around nervously as he stayed close to Ashlyn.Taylor hummed in thought. "Well it has been a while since we ate. We could get some food and figure out what to do from there?"
"Sure.." Tyler mumbled, not really looking up from his phone.
"Yeah, I'm down." Aiden said, still staring at Ashlyn and Logan. Ben nodded in agreement.
"Whatever works is fine.." Ashlyn said quickly. They went to a small restaurant to get food, Aiden yapping the whole time. Tyler didn't really look up from his phone, and Ashlyn looked done with everything. After they ate, they went on a wagon ride around Savannah, learning about the history. Logan was hooked on every word, just excited to learn more.
After that, they went to orange pillars—Ashlyn didn't really remember what they were. all she knew was that Aiden climbed on them and it was bugging her out. And of course—Taylor found face paint.
So, they got their faces painted. Ashlyn looked at herself in her phone, then back up at her brother. He had been taking pictures the whole time, and got his camera stolen by Taylor to mess with Tyler. Ashlyn sighed. It wasn't as bad as she would've originally thought.
.
.
."How much time do we have left?" Taylor asked as they walked down the street. Logan looked at his phone.
"About 40 minutes."
"We should head back in 30 minutes then.." Taylor counted. She hummed.
"Excuse me?"
The group looked behind them, only to be met with a woman. She had tan skin, black hair, and a red shirt. She smiled politely. "Would you all be interested in a tour of the sorrel weed house? A group canceled last minute and we have some spots open. It's only five dollars per person."
"Wait really?!" Taylor asked excitedly. She shot a look back to the group. "We've got to go! That place is supposed to be really haunted!"
"Sure.." Tyler mumbled.
"Cool!" Aiden exclaimed.
The lady smiled. For a moment, it looked eerie. "Then right this way!"
