So..........
S4 huh
I think I, along with everyone who saw it, was absolutely fucking devastated and completely outraged by that steaming pile of horseshit.
I am very tempted to write my own ending for this absolutely incredible show that deserved so much more than that cheap-ass, lazy bullshit excuse so a final season.
However I live to serve. I will write what you all want. The journey this story and you ppl have taken me on with it has been incredible and I can't thank you all enough.Tell me what u want from s4 of Guns now. Drop suggestions and ideas and anything. (I'm terrible at originality but compared to the alternative I'm bloody willing to try)
Tysm
RANT
(You don't have to read this if u don't want I just need somewhere to write this on record)The writing of s4 was lazy. I've been thinking and TUA is good because it follows a good structure. It introduces its characters and their struggles and stories at the start of each season, then FOLLOWS THROUGH WITH THEM. Shocker, they tell an actual fucking story.
My mum ended up watching some of s4 with me and she walked out after saying "the first ep was fun but then it got too serious suddenly" and she's right. Ep 1 was shaping up to be great, with unique stories and plots with each character, and USUALLY tua would follow each character individually. Some stories would be harrowing, but then it would immediately cut to something fun. Take s2 for example: we'd watch Allison battling rasicm or Viktor (Vanya) homophobia, then cut to Klaus and his sex cult. IT WAS FUN. IT WORKED. THEY DIDN'T FUCKING DO IT. There was no balance. Usually the final two (maybe three) eps show the siblings come together and it gets serious, but it's satisfying. We watch their stories tie together and the characters overcome their struggles. THERE'S A PLOT.S4 had no plot. It was awful. It started strong and then fell face first off a cliff. The closest thing to an individual plotline was Ben and Jennifer, maybe Klaus and Allison briefly with that gangster pimp whatever he was (though the whole ordeal had zero consequence so what was the fucking point of it?)
Speaking of zero consequence, the train. That train had SO MUCH POTENTIAL. THE THINGS THEY COULD'VE DONE OMG. Instead, a weird, borderline pedophilic relationship between two characters who've had 0 romantic interest in each other (or at all for Five) the entire season. I won't bother defending that bc so far, I've seen no one like the Fila romance. It was disgusting.
Five. My beautiful Five. (Obviously) we all love Five here. Number Five Hargreeves was snarky and rude and old and tired and fiercely loyal to his family.
That was not Five Hargreeves.
What happened to his retirement plan? I get he'd be suited to something like the CIA but he was done, especially with high-stress work like that. HE WAS RETIRED. IT WAS HIS WHOLE ARC LAST SEASON. THEY RUINED IT.
If they wanted to give Five a romance, fine. It'd be kinda weird to suddenly have him fall in love, but fine. Give us a new character, make them compatible. There was a five/six (I can't remember) timeskip. Plenty of time for the two to build a relationship - they could show it in those flashbacks they usually do at the start of the episodes to a really nice song and have it be wonderful - dedicate a side-plot to it and have them kiss. I could live with that--
WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU CHOOSE LILA?
She and Diego have worked and fought so hard to be together happily. They overcome personal struggles, situational struggles, end-of-the-world/killer-mum struggles. They have fought and bled for that marriage and those kids. Ruining their marriage was a fucking disgrace. If you wanted a sideplot of them struggling like many parents do, then OVERCOMING IT, fine. That would've been lovely for a child of (should be) divorce like me to watch. A real world issue to keep us grounded. Perfect.
NOPE. she had an affair with 70 year old teen. Great.Don't get me started on Jean and Gene. I'll say one thing and I want you to say it with me.
WASTED POTENTIAL.
They had zero relevance or consequence beside a few mildly funny scenes. Horrible.Reg and Abigail. Just wtf. I still have so many questions abt them (why and how are they aliens on Earth, for instance) but whatever ig we'll never know.
Also wtf was Abigail doing???? I would actually throw hands with her. WHY WOULD SHE END THE WORLD? IF YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ALIVE, KYS. PUT A BULLET IN YOUR HEAD AND BE DONE WITH IT. ACTUALLY FUCK HER. Selfish bitch I was screaming during her and Reg's last scene. And so, that brings me to the ending. Killing them all is so cheap and cliché and bad. It was a lazy ending, not to mention completely against the rest of the show. These characters have fought and bled and died and been resurrected in the name of living to tomorrow. We have watched them grow from seven traumatised and lonely strangers to a family. An actual (dysfunction) supportive family. S4 ruined it. It ruined everything. After all we've watched these characters struggle through, we didn't deserve that. They didn't deserve that. TUA didn't deserve such a shitty end.
Final notes.
