Josie hangs up the phone, in shock as to what Lizzie has just told her. 'He's been beating her for years' Josie's heart aches. She thinks back to the last time she saw Hope, Josie had made a trip to Florida to see her sister, this was just after graduating from med school They met up with Hope at a swanky restaurant in the city. They hadn't seen each other for a number of years. So seeing her again had Josie excited and she felt a warmth just thinking about it. . Truth be known Josie had always liked Hope and not in the platonic way, but she had to bury that deep deep down, with her marrying Landon. She even had childish dreams of being the one that Hope would marry, but she just had to laugh that off as a pipedream.
They had an amazing time at the restaurant catching up in all areas of their lives and Hope was in really good spirits. They all had a-little too much to drink, and when Josie got up to call a cab, she stumbled a little and luckily Hope had caught her, breaking her fall. For a brief moment blue meets brown and Josie thought she saw a look of wanting in Hope's eyes. She felt an electricity go through her body, which made a shiver run down her spine. She wondered if Hope was feeling the same desire as she was. Or was Josie completely misreading the feelings. "Thankyou Hope" she says thinking how embarrassing it would be to trip and fall in a busy restaurant. "No worries" Hope waved her hand brushing it off and both girls broke the hold they had on each other.
The three girls met up a number of times over Josie's visit. All happy times with lasting memories. Hope took Josie around Mikaelson Industries , Josie's face in awe at just how large the head office was,, all the state of the art tech. Josie didn't miss how Hope was saying hello to all her staff while they walked through, she was impressed at how friendly they all were and how Hope knew everyone's names. Something she knew must be hard with such a large amount of staff.
The last night of Josie's stay Hope invited her around to her place, Landon was away on a business trip, he had left the day before. Josie was looking forward to seeing Ava, who really the last time she had seen her was when she was a toddler.
Josie was struck on the first sight of the teenager. 'Wow, she looks so much like Hope' She notices she's just an inch or two taller than Hope. But the same long wavy auburn hair, and those eyes. Josie had always loved looking in Hope's eyes. Sky blue that seemed to change various shades of blue with whatever emotion Hope was in at the time. Her eyes drew Josie in, as if they were hypnotic. They had a delicious dinner that Ava had prepared, Hope doesn't cook much, she's tried but was never really very successful at it. Ava on the other hand seems a natural and she is passionate about cooking, she wants to be a chef in the future.
Josie could see from all their interactions that Ava, worshipped her mother, nothing but smiles between them, laughing at their silly jokes, Ava even snuggled into her mothers side while they were watching some movie that was on tv. Josie couldn't tell you what it is because she was so engrossed watching the mother daughter duo.
It was like the two of them had an encrypted language where they just knew what each other wanted. Josie thought to herself how much she would love there sort of relationship when or if she had children ofher own.
Josie noticed there were many photos of Ava positioned around their house, photos of her on her own, photos with her mother, photos with friends. What Josie also noticed was there weren't any photos of Landon , or them together with him, she thought that was a little strange but buried that away.
Josie looked at the clock on the wall and noticed how late it was getting, she said she better leave as she had an early flight back to Mystic Falls in the morning.
Thank you's and goodbyes were said all around. Josie didn't think much of it at the time, but now, after Lizzie's phone call she understands. As. Josie was through giving Ava a hug goodbye, she went over to Hope, as she pulled her in for a hug, she felt Hope tightening up and she wincing. She asked if she was ok, and Hope told her she was a bit sore from a brutal gym session.
