April 1993

"Happy Birthday!" Bambi flung open the door to the twin's dorm as soon as the sun rose on April 1st.

"Bambi," Lee groaned, rolling over in his bed, covering his dark locks with his pillow. "It's too early for this."

Bambi ignored him and skipped over to the twins' beds, bouncing energetically. She yanked open the curtains, letting the bright morning sun flood the dark room. "Wake up, you two! It's your birthday, and we've got surprises for you!"

Fred and George groaned in unison, their faces buried in their pillows. "Can't it wait until a more civilized hour?" George mumbled.

"Nope!" Bambi grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief. She grabbed the edge of their blankets and gave them a good shake. "Up and at 'em! There's a whole day of birthday fun waiting!"

Bambi, Alicia, Angelina, and Lee had been hard at work late into the night to try and make the twin's 15th birthday one to remember. Bambi had spent hours with Lee smuggling fireworks, enchanted confetti, and prank items from Zonko's during their last Hogsmeade visit. They had also snuck out using the Marauder's Map one night while the twins were busy in detention, returning with a stash of sweets and drinks. Bambi had even managed to secure a good bit of firewhiskey and mead for the occasion, (after allowing Lee to transfigure a few wrinkles onto her face to avoid suspicion). Alicia and Angelina were in charge of decorating, and their dorm room was filled with boxes of banners, streamers, and balloons, all ready for that evening. They had carefully planned out the decorations, ensuring that the common room would be transformed into a vibrant, party-ready space.

Bambi snapped pointed birthday hats on each of their heads. She already had one perched on top of her own crown of red, a gold polka-dotted hat with a cherry red pom-pom on top.

"Come on, Lee, you too," Bambi said, wrestling him into a hat with matching enthusiasm.

Lee squirmed, laughing, as Bambi adjusted the hat on his head. "Alright, alright, I'm wearing it!" he chuckled, finally giving in.

"Well, breakfast, boys?" Bambi flashed a smile, content with her handiwork.

As they exited the common room, the corridors were alive with noise and chatter. All the portraits—Bambi and Lee had enchanted them the previous night to wear colorful party hats and blow party horns—burst into loud, off-key songs and celebratory noises as the students passed.

The Fat Lady especially seemed to be enjoying her party hat, waving jollily at them as they left the dorm room. "Have a marvelous day, dears!" she called out, her voice ringing with cheer as she continued to sing behind them.

Other students laughed as they passed, whispering and pointing to the partying portraits on the walls. The further they walked, the more vibrant the decorations became. Colorful streamers twisted and twirled along the ceiling, and balloons bobbed in the air, courtesy of Alicia and Angelina's late-night efforts. The decorations made the usually stoic corridors feel more like a carnival.

When they walked into the Great Hall, a wave of cheers erupted from the Gryffindor table. Almost every last Gryffindor student wore a party hat, many of them shouting birthday wishes to the twins. The sight was almost overwhelming, with colorful hats dotting the sea of red and gold. The twins looked around, their faces a mix of pride and embarrassment as their housemates continued the raucous celebration.

McGonagall's face was etched with clear annoyance. She was talking in a low voice to Flitwick, who was stifling a laugh behind his hand. Bambi wasn't sure why a little, or a lot, of decorations would warrant that sort of reaction. It wasn't until breakfast ended and Dumbledore made an announcement that Bambi truly found out why.
