Boo Seungkwan hummed softly as he moved around his kitchen, the upbeat tempo of the song pulsing through his headphones. He swayed his hips to the rhythm, his hands deftly chopping vegetables on the wooden cutting board. A cute, pastel apron was tied snugly around his waist, adorned with little hearts and bunnies, making him look more like a sweet homemaker than a sharp-witted lawyer. The kitchen was filled with the aroma of sautéing onions, and Seungkwan grinned as he thought about how good dinner was going to be.

Suddenly, the shattering sound of glass breaking pierced the air, jolting him from his happy trance. Instinctively, Seungkwan whipped around, his hand clutching the kitchen knife he'd been using. Without hesitating, he hurled the knife toward the source of the noise. The blade flew across the kitchen, but a figure ducked just in time, narrowly avoiding the knife that embedded itself in the wall behind him.

"Woah, Kwannie, you scared me there!" the intruder exclaimed, straightening up.

Seungkwan's eyes widened as he took in the familiar face now standing in his kitchen, brushing shards of glass from his shoulders. Vernon. His heart, which had been racing in alarm, now pounded for an entirely different reason. He pulled his headphones down around his neck, his expression shifting from shock to exasperation.

"Couldn't you come from the main door?" Seungkwan scolded, waving a hand toward the broken window. "My window—"

Before he could finish, Vernon closed the distance between them in two quick strides. He wrapped his arms around Seungkwan's waist, pulling him into a firm embrace. Seungkwan's annoyance melted away the instant he felt Vernon's warmth against him. The scent of leather and a hint of cologne filled his senses, overpowering the smell of the onions.

"I missed you," Vernon murmured against his ear, his voice soft, carrying a tinge of longing that made Seungkwan's heart ache.

Seungkwan relaxed into the embrace, letting out a soft sigh as his hands rested against Vernon's chest. "I missed you too," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "Why couldn't you just use the door like a normal person?"

Vernon chuckled, the sound low and rough, vibrating against Seungkwan's cheek. "Where's the fun in that?" he teased, his fingers gently tracing the small of Seungkwan's back. He pulled away slightly, just enough to look into Seungkwan's eyes. There was a twinkle in his gaze, a mix of mischief and affection that made Seungkwan's irritation impossible to hold onto.

"You and your dramatic entrances," Seungkwan muttered, his lips twitching into a reluctant smile.

"Just trying to keep things interesting," Vernon replied with a smirk. He leaned down, brushing his lips lightly over Seungkwan's forehead, a gesture so gentle it made Seungkwan’s heart flutter. “You know I’d do anything to see that adorable face of yours light up.”

Seungkwan blushed, his cheeks heating under Vernon's gaze. He pushed at Vernon's chest half-heartedly. "Flattery won't fix my window, you know."

Vernon grinned, his hands still resting on Seungkwan's waist. "How about I start by helping you with dinner? Then we can talk about the window," he offered, leaning down to press a soft kiss to Seungkwan’s lips, sealing his words with a promise that made Seungkwan’s pulse quicken.

Seungkwan's eyes fluttered closed at the kiss, his arms sliding up to wrap around Vernon's neck. “Fine,” he breathed against Vernon's mouth. “But you’re on dish duty. And you're paying for the glass.”

Vernon laughed, the sound echoing warmly through the kitchen. “Deal. Anything for you, Kwannie.”

They stood there for a moment, wrapped in each other’s arms, the broken window and the rest of the world forgotten. In that moment, nothing else mattered but the warmth between them and the love they shared, stronger than the danger lurking outside and as comforting as the meal simmering on the stove.
