The sun was dipping low on the horizon, casting a warm, golden hue across the beach. The sound of gentle waves lapping against the shore mixed with the distant laughter of families and the occasional call of seagulls.

It was the perfect evening—one of those moments where time seems to slow down, allowing the world to bask in a tranquil glow. I had always liked the beach, with its endless stretch of sand and the soothing rhythm of the ocean. But today, the beauty of the setting felt bittersweet.

I glanced over at Y/N, who was walking beside me, her fingers interlocked with mine as we strolled along the shoreline. Her presence was like a comforting anchor amidst the turmoil I felt inside.

She had always been a calming influence on me, her laughter and warmth able to chase away even the darkest clouds. But tonight, there was an unspoken heaviness in the air, and I knew I couldn't avoid it any longer.

We stopped at a small, secluded spot on the beach, where the sand was soft and the ocean stretched out like a shimmering blanket. I spread out a blanket and we both sat down, the cool breeze ruffling my hair and making Y/N's dress flutter gently.

"Yoichi," she said softly, her voice barely louder than the whisper of the waves. "You've been quiet today. Is something on your mind?"

I took a deep breath, trying to steady the knot forming in my stomach. "Yeah, there's something I need to tell you. It's important."

Y/N looked at me with concern, her eyes reflecting the orange and pink hues of the sunset. I knew she could sense that something was wrong. I hesitated, feeling the weight of my impending departure pressing down on me.

"I've been accepted into a program called Blue Lock," I began, my voice trembling slightly. "It's a soccer training program, really intense. They select only the best players, and it's supposed to be a major opportunity. But...it also means I'll be away for a long time. I don't even know how long."

Her eyes widened, and for a moment, there was silence between us, only broken by the distant sound of the waves. I could see the shock and concern in her eyes.

"I wanted to make this day special because... I'm not sure when I'll be back," I continued. "I didn't want to leave without telling you, without spending some time together. I didn't know how to say goodbye without it feeling...incomplete."

Y/N reached out and caressed my cheek softly, her touch warm and reassuring. "Yoichi, I'm so proud of you. I know how much soccer means to you, and if this is something you need to do, then I'll support you. But...you should have told me earlier. We could have talked about it."

I felt a pang of guilt. "I was scared, Y/N. I didn't want to make it real by saying it out loud. And I didn't want to see the look on your face when I told you."

A tear slipped down her cheek, and she quickly wiped it away, forcing a brave smile. "It's okay. It's just...hard to think about being apart for so long. But I want you to go and follow your dreams. Just promise me you'll stay safe and keep in touch."

I nodded, squeezing her hand gently. "I promise. I'll do my best. And I'll think of you every day. I just wish I didn't have to leave."

We sat in silence, watching as the sun continued its descent, painting the sky in shades of deep purple and indigo. The waves seemed to mirror the emotions crashing inside me—an ebb and flow of uncertainty and longing.

As the first stars began to appear in the darkening sky, I turned to Y/N and saw the sadness mirrored in her eyes. "I want you to know, even though I'm going away, you're always with me. You've been my rock, my anchor. And that no matter where I am, that won't change."

"Well, it is an all boys program, isn't it?" she replied, turning to me and cracking a small smile.

I sighed,  but amused by her antics, I couldn't help but smile back. "You know that's not what I meant, right?"

Y/N leaned in, resting her head on my shoulder. "I'm kidding. No matter how far apart we are, we'll always have this moment, this memory. It'll keep me going until you come back."

We sat there, wrapped in each other's embrace, as the evening grew darker and the waves continued their ceaseless dance. The beach, with its calming presence, felt like a temporary escape from the reality that awaited us. But in that fleeting moment, amidst the shifting tides and the fading sunlight, we found a sense of peace.

I knew that saying goodbye was never easy, but as I held Y/N close, I felt a small spark of hope. Despite the uncertainty of the future, I cherished the warmth of our shared moments and the promise that, no matter what, we'd find our way back to each other.
