Lan Zhan and Zhou Zishu, known to their closest friends as A-zhan and A-shu, were usually the most unassuming students in their entire school. The first one being a silent kid (except in front of Zhou Zishu), who minded his own business and was always on his computer, while the other was someone who could turn anything into a comedy and was friendly though not much talkative, both were just average students, blending into the crowd, they flew right under the radar – just as they liked it. Little did anyone know, they were also the secret authors behind the wildly popular and incredibly absurd fiction novel, "Love Mr. Wei," which had taken their school by storm.
The novel revolved around two very real and very formidable students: Wei Wuxian, the academic prodigy who could solve calculus problems in his sleep, and his cousin Wei Kexing, the sports champion who could outrun even the school's track coach. Both were idols among their peers, but their intense, larger-than-life personalities made them equally terrifying to anyone who dared cross their path.
Naturally, Lan Zhan and Zhou Zishu found it irresistibly funny to write a story that turned these two titans of the school into hapless romantic leads. They published chapters anonymously, dripping with melodrama, secret love affairs, and all sorts of hilarious misunderstandings.

Lan Zhan and Zhou Zishu had been inseparable since middle school, their friendship forged through countless hours of studying, sharing secrets, and dreaming of a high school life filled with fun and adventure. When they finally made it to their new school, they thought they were ready for anything.
But they were wrong.
The school's reputation as a battleground of bullies and teachers who didn't seem to care about bullying until it wasn't so bad to make someone jump off the building, soon became a harsh reality. The rules were clear: if you didn't want to be bullied, you had to fly under the radar and avoid the seniors' wrath. So, that's exactly what Lan Zhan and Zishu tried to do.
Unfortunately, someone had other plans.
Zishu, eager to try something new, decided to join sports. That's when he first saw him-Wei Kexing. Just the name made Zhou Zishu's blood boil.
"Can't even run a 100 meters, what a weakling," Wei Kexing sneered, his stupid group of gangster-looking friends snickering beside him as they mocked a small group of juniors who were just trying to give themselves a second chance.
Zishu felt his blood pressure spike. He clenched his fists, biting back a retort, while Lan Zhan, whom he had dragged along for moral support, stood stoically silent beside him, his eyes narrowed in quiet fury. Wei Kexing's laughter rang out again, and Zishu could feel his face burning with frustration. (Zishu has later become a volunteer at school and Zhan has joined the computer club)
Zishu wasn't going to let Wei Kexing win. No, he had a plan of his own, and it was only a matter of time before he put it into action...
While Zishu was entirely focused on wiping that smug smile off Kexing's face. He didn't notice that his best friend's attention was elsewhere-specifically, on that jerk's cousin, Wei Wuxian.
Lan Zhan had had his eyes on the school's top student since the day he set foot in the school. And it wasn't surprising-Wei Wuxian's face was everywhere, plastered on posters celebrating his achievements as if the school's sole purpose was to promote him.
Lan Zhan felt like Wei Wuxian was too far out of reach, almost unattainable. He wanted to rid himself of these unwanted feelings, but it was hard when every corner of the school seemed to have Wei Wuxian's handsome face staring back at him.
"A-Shu, I really don't think this is the right thing to do," Lan Zhan muttered, looking uneasy as Zishu excitedly laid out his plan to write a piece of fiction about Kexing.
"We'll be dead if he ever finds out," Zhan continued. "That guy doesn't exactly have a habit of thinking twice."
Initially, Zishu's plan was to put his creative skills to use with Zhan's help and write a scandalous story about Wei Kexing and the most popular bi*ch in school. But he quickly realized that might backfire-after all, she was already interested in both of the Wei cousins. Yes, both of them! She didn't care who, but she wanted either the school's academic topper or its sports star. And Zishu wasn't about to do her any favors, especially since she was constantly causing trouble for everyone else. Besides, a story like that wouldn't sell-most people hated her more than they hated the Wei cousins.
"Just because of that, you're gonna ship them together? They're cousins!" Lan Zhan exclaimed, his eyes widening in disbelief.
"So? I don't care," Zishu replied, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "I'm sure it'll sell. The Weis may be terrifying, but people admire them a lot."
"But... Wei Wuxian hasn't done anything wrong to you," Lan Zhan protested.
Zishu cut him off. "What's with you now? Why are you taking his side? Neither of them are angels, so it doesn't matter. Besides, you promised to back me up, no matter what!"
Lan Zhan sighed, defeated. "Okay, okay, we'll write it... but we're not gonna promote it, and we keep it within limits, alright?"
"Deal, A-Zhan. I just want to show that Kexing what a so-called 'weakling' can do. He walks around like he's some mafia boss....."
And that was when inspiration struck.
They began secretly writing the story on Wei Wuxian and Wei Kexing—casting them as Mafia bosses, embroiled in a dramatic saga filled with betrayal, secret love, and hidden passions.
The title? 'Love, Mr. Wei'.
Though they wanted people to read it, they never expected the story would take off like wildfire so quickly. It was born from Zishu's impulsive thought and already looked like there was no going back. The links and screenshots were being passed around during lunch breaks, phone hidden beneath textbooks, and eagerly devoured by the entire school.
The only problem? Wei Wuxian and Wei Kexing now wanted to know who the author was so they could "have a little chat."
