SEBASTIAN

I woke suddenly to the sound of a door slamming across the hall, Ominis stirring beside me from the noise as I quickly slid from the bed.

"What was that?" Ominis's sleep-addled voice groaned as he sat up.

"Not sure." I replied, quickly slipping on my dressing robe and checking my timepiece on the beside. It was still a few hours to dawn, had Devorak woken this early? "I'm going to take a look."

"I'll come with you." Ominis was already pulling on his dressing robe as I made for the door, opening it just in time to spot Devorak turning down the stairs to the main level, wearing nothing but her chemise.

Fuck, that's an image I'm never going to be able to shake from my head.

"Devorak?" I called after her, exchanging a glance with Ominis when she didn't respond. Was something wrong? We followed her then, and I called out a second time when we reached the bottom of the stairs, and she still gave no hint of hearing me.

"Asra, are you alright?" Ominis asked softly as we caught up to her, and when he caught her arm in an attempt to get her to stop, she turned startlingly quick to face us. He dropped her arm as if he had been stung.

Her eyes were glowing with a strange silvery–blue hue, and she seemed to look right through us with a blank expression.

"Can you feel it?" She asked us, her tone airy and strange as she turned back towards the hall, moving to walk down it once more. There was no hesitation as she seemed to walk forward with purpose as she continued down the hall.

"Feel what, Asra?" Ominis questioned, moving after her.

"Om, I don't think she's conscious." I concluded as she continued forward, ignoring his question.

"What?"

"I think she's sleepwalking." I explained, following her as she slowly made her way down the hall, her hand brushing against the walls as she walked.

"What do we do?" Ominis asked as she paused, her hand faltering over one of the doors she had been about to pass by.

"I don't think we're supposed to try and wake her, but we should make sure she doesn't hurt herself. Perhaps we can coax her back to her room." I replied as we caught up to her just as she turned the handle, stepping into the room.

"It's here." She breathed as we followed, and from a quick glance, I determined this must have been her brother's study she mentioned earlier. I watched carefully as she moved across the room and behind the desk that sat in the corner. "What are you hiding from me Ambrose?" Her voice sounded again, fainter as she carefully began to run her hands down the bookshelves lining the walls.

"Something isn't right." Ominis's hand gripped my arm suddenly in warning as she reached for a portion of the shelf. I felt the energy shift immediately when she thrust her hand forward, and a burst of energy flooded from her fingertips. She swayed dangerously on her feet as the energy ebbed. Ominis was moving before I could react, catching her swiftly before she could hit the floor.

"What the hell was that?" I quickly crouched beside them, checking to be sure she was breathing.

"You neglected to mention she wasn't decent." Ominis flushed furiously as his hand brushed against the silk of her chemise.
