Distant Obsession

Chapter 3 (Blue eyes)

Emma

Mum is driving the car and Aunt Cora is making a list of everything she wants to buy for.

Apparently, she wants to redecorate their home.

  Me and Emily, we are in the back. Emily is reconciling with Sam while I am giving her some advice silently.

Luckily our mothers didn’t bother much to see what we were doing.

When I saw she didn’t need my help anymore, I looked outside the window and felt the breeze brush against my skin. I can’t stop myself from feeling this weird agony. Watching the clear bright sky, it makes me wonder if there is someone like me, someone who also feels this or someone who can give me answers. I considered the possibility of being depressed or being mentally ill. But no matter how much I think about it, it doesn’t make any sense. I also tried for therapy secretly once, but it didn’t work. This pain comes and goes away as it wishes. Nothing triggers it. In fact, it just happens so suddenly and then I become fine again without even me noticing.

Soon we reached the mall. I got rid of these thoughts and tried my best to be happy and enjoy.

After parking the car, we went inside the mall.

“Finally, we are going to have some fun. I want to buy so many new dresses. Emma, come on, be fast. We have a lot to do.” Emily was like a child who went to an amusement park or candy shop.

  Mum and aunt started laughing seeing how excited Emily was. “I will take Cora to the furniture sector; you should go with Emily. If there’s anything you need, call us and be careful.”

“Alright mum, we are going”. Emily took me to the clothing area and started looking through the dresses.

She picked out five dresses and went to the trial room.

  Meanwhile a white dress with small pink flowers printed on it grabbed my attention. I went to take a closer look and the dress simply hypnotized me. It wasn’t too gorgeous, but it was beautiful in a unique way.

“It will look beautiful on you. Why don’t you try it and see for yourself?” I turned around and saw Emily smiling at me.

  “So, are you going to buy all five of them? "I pointed at her hand.

“Don’t be silly. I am only going to buy two and you are going to buy this one. Now, go and see if it fits or not.”

  I smiled at her and took the dress with me to the trial room.

  I tried the dress, and it fitted me perfectly. When I looked at mirror, I was convinced to buy this dress.

I came out with the dress in my hand and saw Emily holding those two dresses and some make-up items in the reception.

She saw me and asked,” so, you are buying it?”

“Hell yeah, darling. But wait here. I have to buy a lipstick.”

  “Alright, go ahead but be fast. We have something we need to do.”

I figured out what she was planning and started laughing in my head. I picked my favorite shade of lipstick and went to reception. We bought our items and came out.

  “You see there’s a restaurant that just opened near,”

“And you want to go there so that we can sneak into the restricted building near it.”

I laid open her plan and she smiled like a kid who just got a candy.

“Well, since you guessed it already, let’s hurry there.” Emily took my arm and almost started running.

“Let’s inform mum and aunt that we are going to the restaurant. And do you have any plan about how we are going to sneak in there?”

Honestly, I was also excited. Emily and I were always excited to do forbidden things.

  “Don’t worry. I have planned it all. You just enjoy our trespassing.”

I called mum and informed them and then we went to accomplish our mission.

The restricted area was once a construction site and for some reason it was closed. But the building remained incomplete and so it was dangerous to go there. But who cares, we both have a knack for going where we should not go.

  We went to the restaurant and then Emily took me to the back of the restaurant. Seeing there was no one, she started climbing the wall ahead of us.

“Come on, follow me. This is the only way.” I followed her and started climbing.

  “How did you know about all this?”

  “Well, Sam told me about this way. He and his friends used this way to go there once.” She smiled, showing her teeth.

  “Finally, your boyfriend is not that useless.” I started laughing and she also joined me.

We climbed the wall and jumped. The building stood in front of us, and it looked like those haunted abandoned factories in horror movies.

I looked at my partner and saw she was just as excited as I was.

Suddenly, I felt someone’s gaze but there was no one here except us. I thought it was just me feeling things and ignored it. Sometimes I just feel like this; like someone is watching me.

  We went inside the building. It was so big inside but there were rocks and cement everywhere. We had to watch out or else we would fall. We looked at a stair leading to the 2nd floor and went to climb it.

  The second floor was the same except there were only more rocks in here. We both got so excited and went near the edge.

I took out my phone and said to Emily, “Let’s take some selfies.”

“Definitely, I will show Sam and everyone.” We took some selfies and then Emily got a call from Sam.

  She went to talk, and I stared at the ground. I wanted to take a closer look and so went forward.

Suddenly I hit a stone and lost my balance. A scream escaped from my mouth.

Everything happened so fast that before I knew what was happening, I was falling. I tried to use my reflexes to hold onto the wall, but I couldn’t do it on time.

I closed my eyes and within a second, I felt my bones were crushing and heard a loud sound of something breaking. My head was hurting and my whole body felt like it was burning. I could feel something wet in my hand and head. I couldn’t make a sound let alone move. Everything around me felt so fuzzy.

Then I saw him, a man just near me, looking at me with worries. I saw his blue eyes and felt something. But I only saw this for a second and then everything went dark.
