"Sign the paper."

"No."

"Sign."

"I said, no."

You stared down at the divorce papers spread out on the table in front of you. Your eyes lingered on the ink signature of your husband, the sharp, familiar strokes mocking you.

You crossed your arms, making no move to pick up the pen that was being pushed toward you.

"Darling, please listen." Your mother's voice wavered as she slid the paper closer to you, "This is for your own good."

You backed away in your seat turning your head to look away.

"When did I ever say I wanted this?" You shook your head in disappointment.

"I'm going home." You stood up immediately, the legs of your chair scraping against the floor as you grabbed your purse and turned on your heel to leave.

"Mira!" Your father called out, his voice growing more distant as you moved further away.

As you continued to storm off until you suddenly collided with someone's chest, the impact forcing a soft grunt from your lips. You stumbled back a step, your heart racing from both the collision and the adrenaline coursing through you.

But as soon as you lifted your head to see who it was, your mouth hung open in shock.

"What are you doing here...?" Your voice trembled, immediately stepping back but the person in front of you grabbed your wrists, stopping you.

Your mind spun and you instinctively stepped back but before you could, his hands shot out, firmly grabbing your wrists, stopping you from pulling away.

"Mira? What's wrong?" Jihoon looked down at you in concern.

"Why are you here?" You repeated, your voice barely holding together as you tried to pull away from him. The frustration welled up inside you but Jihoon only pulled you closer, his grip tightening around you.

"I want to go home," The edge in your voice sharper as you tried to break free. But Jihoon refused to let you go as he yanked you into a tight embrace, his arms wrapping around you like a cage.

"Stop—" You clenched your hands into fists, hitting him on the shoulders.

"Let me go!" You shouted, panic rising in your chest but Jihoon's grip only grew stronger, his arms securing tightly around your waist.

You didn't want to cry. Not here. Not in front of him.

"Mira, calm down!" Jihoon's voice wavered between control and desperation.

"I didn't ask for this." You gritted your teeth.

You took a deep breath, steadying yourself, your hands still clenched into fists against his chest.

"Everything's going to be alright..." Jihoon whispered, stroking the back of your head soothingly.

"Mira..." You heard your mother called out, her footsteps echoed against the ground.

You felt her presence behind you, but even as she and your father approached, they did nothing.

They stood there, watching the two of you in silence, uncertainty written all over their faces.

You wanted Yoongi. His face, his touch, his warmth — it was all you could think about. You longed to be in his arms instead. Even if it was for just a second, you wanted to see him.

You shut your eyes tightly, trying to block out Jihoon's embrace, imagining it was Yoongi holding you instead.

Jihoon's hold felt suffocating, nothing like the tenderness you craved from your husband.

Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes and despite your best efforts to hold them back, one escaped, trailing down your cheek. The ache in your chest only grew deeper.

Is this what your life has really become...?

"It's going to be okay..." Jihoon whispered again. You flinched at his touch, your body stiff as he gently wiped away the tears streaming down your face.

"I'm here now. Okay...?" He cupped your face tenderly, tilting your chin up so you had no choice but to meet his gaze.

Even if Jihoon had been there from the start, supporting you through your darkest moments, was it so wrong to not want him now?

Was it selfish to crave someone else — someone who, despite the chaos, still held your heart...?

You felt trapped between gratitude and longing, between what you were supposed to feel and what you truly want. Your mind screamed that Jihoon didn't deserve this, that he deserved better than your fading affection. But your heart? It called out for Yoongi.

But now, could you really choose anything at all? Everything seemed to be falling into place, but not in the way you had hoped for. Yoongi was slipping further away, becoming Gayeong's, bound by expectations and the weight of family ties.

And you, despite every feeling screaming otherwise, were being pulled closer to Jihoon, the path laid out for you to become his.
