Chapter 6:Distraction

So I needed to get a vessel for Navia. That sounds easy enough though I wonder why out of all the Shadowheras she's chosen me. At least now I can have a bit of fun. I descended down to Earth through the darkness portals which connects to every place in the bottom and middle planes. Before long I was in the middle of Japan. Earth was so different compared to the shadow realm or any of the demon realms for that matter. Everything was so bright.

The sky was a shade of ugly blue and sometimes these dumb white clouds come along and make the view even worse. The food was so much worse though. I thought since I was going on a trip to Earth I should try the food so I asked a random restaurant to get me their best dish. I was expecting some bones or flesh or fish something like that but instead I got something that looked like cold flavoured balls on a cone thingy.

It tasted so horrible. Well maybe one of the other dishes will be better. I sat down on one of the seats in the restaurant while I tried to order something else when I smelled a familiar person. Kyujin Akamatsu. Athena's right hand. She was sitting in the corner wearing a hoodie drinking a coffee though weirdly it didn't have any blood in it like we have in the shadow realm. She comes up to me and gives my cat ears a little pat as I smooth against her legs.

"Oh look the Cheshire Cat has come out to play. Found a new place to leave your smile or are you just here to play games."

That was my nickname the Cheshire Cat because every time I explore a new area I always leave my smile behind. It's really fun watching the mortals freak out when they see it though. I love watching people freak out or get tricked. I guess you could say it was a hobby of mine. I always had a trick up my sleeve.

"Oh no actually I'm here to get a new vessel for Navia but since you're here now wanna play a game of cards."

I say with a massive smile on my face trying to have a bit of fun. Besides explaining everything about what's happening would be too boring for me. I pull out a pack of cards and lay them down on the table. While I'm doing that she scratches my ears.

"It's weird isn't it how two different people who serve different gods can still be friends. And let me shuffle the deck because I don't trust that you won't do anything sneaky."

"Oh come on"

This made me slightly annoyed. The person who's shuffling always has the greatest potential for foul play but I already had another plan in mind. As for us serving different gods I guess that was quite unusual. The god you serve is based on a lot of things from your moral compass to personal connections to how much power you get and demons don't usually interact with other demons that serve different gods.

Kyujin gave the cards a good shuffle trying to make sure I couldn't see the cards and pull any funny business. This made me kinda pissed but I knew I always had a trick up my sleeve. At the same time I remembered i had to get that vessel for Navia.

"Hey um know any good places where hot strong lady's are."

She seemed kinda annoyed at this question as it made me sound like I wanted to flirt with some girls.

"Um you sure you aren't secretly serving Luci."

I didn't mean to come across that way. It's just I'm terrible at social interactions. I'm more suited to tricks and games.

"No no I mean anyone who could be able to be Navias vessel. You know strong, healthy and young. Ooh a joker."

I say looking at the cards I was dealt. I pretended to look surprised when actually I had enchanted the cards so when I blinked five times in a row at them they would change into whatever I wanted. I was an extremely good liar.

"Oh I don't know any but the waiter does."

This confused me. What did the waiter have to do with this.

"Explain."

"The waiter is on our side. He's actually a spy for us demons. Everyday he gives us information on the humans just based on the people he observes going in and out the restaurant. In fact he even knows about us."

I didn't expect that at all. Though now I realised it makes so much sense. If he knew why didn't he kick us out the moment he saw our horns or our wings or our tail well I guess it was more like one demonic tail and one cat tail but still. We carried on playing cards for a couple more hours and of course I won all the matches due to my cheating. I keep trying lots of meals and eventually I find out the fish is amazing. After a couple meals the waiter that Kyujin was talking about approached us.

"What would you like Cheshire Cat."

"Oh just one human vessel to go."

We both knew what each other was talking about and before long the waiter comes back with a strong healthy young girl handcuffed by the arms and legs. I knew now I had to leave.

"Bye Kyujin see you soon."

"Bye Nxy."

We gave each other a hug before I walked through the portal back to the shadow realm leaving my smile behind.
