Letting out a small exhale of breath, (Y/N) started walking home the usual route from school

Letting out a small exhale of breath, (Y/N) started walking home the usual route from school. The wind blew coldly all around her, ruffling her clothes and making the leaves dance beneath her feet, something that made her all the more lonely.

Why did everyone have something to do?

Well...

At least I don't have to face Jess.

Squirming a bit when still feeling that guilt coil up within the pit of her stomach, she was quite thankful to see Kana walking ahead of her with her head bent and her shoulders scrunched in, a sign that she was on her phone. Walking toward her friend, she placed a hand on her shoulder and was surprised when she jumped in fright.

"Woah, Kana! It's just me," (Y/N) laughed awkwardly before she then took in Kana's rather sallow complexion. "Wait, are you... alright?"

"Y-Yeah," she stuttered as she shoved her phone in her back pocket. "I'm fine."

"You don't look fine..."

"I'm fine!" Kana snapped, her grey eyes sharpening as she stared into (Y/N)'s own.

Raising her hands in a defensive position, (Y/N) was a bit taken aback from how on edge Kana seemed, and her brows only stitched together more in concern. Now that she was finally starting to notice, she was able to thoroughly see just how put off Kana seemed: there were bags under her eyes, her usual luscious hair was now a bit flat and dull, and how her normal bright and cheery expression had reverted to an anxious and worried look.

"Kana..." (Y/N)'s voice dipped into a low murmur as her gaze then dropped to the ground. "Are you sure that you're okay? I know I haven't been around often... but you know you can tell me anything... right?"

When she looked back up, she could see Kana battling with herself internally.

"You don't have to tell me now... it's just... if you really are not okay, I don't want you to lie to me and say that you are." she smiled softly as she then embraced Kana in a small hug who broke down not even a second later. "I can take it if you're going through something and just need someone to stay by your side,"

What happened?

How could I have not noticed?

How could I have not noticed what Kana was feeling?

She hasn't been acting happy...

This, though... this is fear.

Squeezing Kana even tighter, (Y/N) let her chin rest on her shoulder that trembled and shook with each breath that she took in. Pulling away from Kana, she rummaged in her backpack before pulling out some tissues for her, watching as she blew her nose and wiped away her tears.

"I'm sorry..." Kana trailed off as she tried to hide her now red-rimmed eyes. "I couldn't tell you... it's—"

"What?"

"Someone has been threatening me..."

"What!?" (Y/N) could feel her eyes widening at that piece of information, immediately taking hold of Kana's shoulders in panic. "Who!? How long has this been happening!? Did you tell anyone else other than me!? We need to go report this!"

"Wait!" Kana grabbed her by the wrist before she could move. "I... can't..."

"What do you mean you can't?"

"They say that if I tell anyone, they'll kill that person... and then they'll kill me," she answered, her voice wavering and her grip on (Y/N) tightening. "E-Even talking to you... I-I don't want either of us to die! But what if... what if they already know?"

"We do," two voices instantly said in answer to Kana's question.

Before either of them could turn around to see who had spoken, merely meeting each other's eyes for a split second, pain then laced the back of their heads before they blacked out. When (Y/N) woke up hours later, her eyesight bleary before it finally cleared, she gasped when noticing immediately that she was tied to a chair with Kana tied behind her. The next thing she noticed was that the room they were in was small and lifeless besides themselves, only a door leading to who knew where in the corner.

What the fuck?

What the fuck!?

What the fuck!?

Struggling in her bindings, gritting her teeth when the rope started to rub her wrists and ankles raw, (Y/N) almost fell over when hearing Kana screech in fear when seeing where she was.

"Holy shit! (Y/N), is that you!? Where are we!?" She yelped as she too struggled in her ropes.

"I-I have no idea," (Y/N) whimpered, wincing every time she shifted due to her now sensitive wrists. "But... were you able to see who took us? Before we were knocked out, I mean? I didn't see anyone, it all just went so fast... shit..."

Are we going to die?

Is whoever took us going to kill us?

As these questions soared through her mind, she was quick to snap to attention when the door to the room opened up to reveal a man dressed in all black. From the dark suit that hugged his large, muscular body to the hat, mask, and sunglasses, he seemed to be a solid mass that blended into the shadows. Pressing his two fingers to his ear, he murmured something low into what (Y/N) assumed was a transmitter as he circled her and Kana.

She hated looking at him.

She hated it all the more when she couldn't see him as he walked around her.

"Who are you?" She spat as she glared at him whenever she could see him, her (E/C) eyes sharp and like daggers. "What the hell do you want with us, you asshole!?"

"Oh, that's easy," a lilting voice exclaimed.

(Y/N) whipped her head around.

Oh... shit.

Roselle smiled at her and Kana as she walked into the room with two more men flanking her, looking as beautiful as always did. However, her smile was as wicked as her soul.

"I just want you to hurt."
