"Y..es, yes that is my name. How di..d you know?"

"I found a keychain in front of my house that has a photo of three girls on it. The one in the middle looks like you, so I thought I should return it... Oh, and it has your name on the back," he replied, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, his eyes flickering between the keychain and my face.

"Ooh, I didn't even notice... ! I responded hesitantly, recognising the object he was taking about.

As he handed the object back, I struggled to find the right words, feeling a rush of mixed gratitude and embarrassment for being so careless.

I should play it cool.

"I must have dropped it on my way to the store. Thank you so much!" I said, forcing a grin, trying to sound more composed than I felt.

"Yeah, it's possible," he replied, and this time his voice sounded more relaxed. "I'm happy that you got it back. It must be a precious item for you."

"It is actually. Those in the picture are my two best friends. I would feel so sad if I found out I lost it. Thanks again!!".  This time, I felt the tension in my shoulders easing.

"What about you? What's your name?"

"I'm Chan. Lee Chan. Nice to meet you!" he offered, extending a hand for a shake that felt warm and genuine.

"I just moved here yesterday. Well, more like my family did, because I am starting college next week, so I'll stay at the dormitory," he explained calmly.

"I am your neighbour actually. My house is only a few houses away from yours."

"Seriously? That's awesome! I guess we'll run into each other a lot then."

"You said you're going to college? Me too. I guess we're the same age!" I continued curiously, surprised by the coincidence. "19?"

"Yep." he replied with a smile.

''So..Which collage are you going to?"

"The Harmony of Diamonds Academy in Seoul."

My jaw dropped hearing his answer. "I can't believe it! I am going to the same college as you!" I exclaimed joyfully, barely able to contain my excitement.

"What were the chances?!" he exclaimed, his surprise matching mine.

"What major did you choose?" Just as I closed my mouth, a wave of awkwardness hit me. "Sorry, am I being annoying? I am asking too many questions..."

"No, you're not! I actually like it," he said, reassuring me. "I didn't choose one yet. I want to become a professional dancer, but I decided to explore more options in my first year. What about you?"

"Since I was 14, I've wanted to become a music producer in the K-pop industry," I replied, feeling a rush of pride. "I chose that as my main major and maybe I'll eventually find some other interests through the years."

''That's really impressive!"

After a few more minutes of chatting about collage,I felt my phone ringing in my pocket.

"I'll be home in a minute, mom!" I said before ending the call.

''I have to go. It was nice meeting you!"  I added, starting to walk away slowly.

"If is not too much to ask, can I have your phone number? I don't know anyone here yet and..." he questioned, his eyes not leaving the ground.

"Of course. My phone number is 0*********. I'll be your first friend here, in Korea. Maybe I can show you around if you wan-" I abrubtly paused, aware of what I had just said.
