AUTHOR'S POV

Jungkook hadn't wanted to go to the Choi family's dinner, but he knew he couldn't keep avoiding them forever.

Even though he had reluctantly agreed to marry Sirene, every fiber of his being resisted it. Still, he put on his suit, buttoned up his emotions, and stepped into the lion's den, hoping to keep everything at arm's length.

The moment he walked into their house, though, everything changed.

He hadn't been expecting the whirlwind of emotions that would hit him the second he saw her-YN, standing there at the doorway, her warm smile lighting up the entire room like the sun after a long winter.

The sight of her, so unguarded and genuine, unraveled every wall he had been trying so hard to build. The distance he had maintained, the resolve to stay detached, shattered in an instant.

She greeted him with that same heartwarming smile, her eyes sparkling as she welcomed him inside.

Her laughter echoed softly, and it was impossible not to get swept up in the gentle joy of her presence.

For a brief moment, the storm inside Jungkook stilled, but only because the feelings he had been running from came crashing down all at once.

His chest tightened as he watched her move, heard her voice as she spoke to him like he was nothing more than her future brother-in-law.

She had no idea-no idea of the turmoil he was drowning in. He sat at the table, pretending to listen as she giggled and chatted, her innocence stabbing at his heart.

Every laugh, every casual conversation between them felt like a blade twisting deeper.

How could she be so unaware of the mess he was in? How could she smile at him like that when he felt like he was being torn apart from the inside?

Jungkook forced himself to smile, to laugh at the right moments, but it was all a façade. Inside, he was breaking.

How could he sit there, with YN's sweet voice filling the room, knowing he was going to marry her sister? Sirene, who sat at the table too, innocent and hopeful, had no idea that the man she was preparing to marry couldn't even bear to look her in the eye.

Not because he didn't like her-she was kind, she was everything she appeared to be-but because it wasn't her he wanted. It was YN.

Always YN.

His heart ached with guilt as Sirene spoke to him, oblivious to the silent war raging within him.
