AUTHOR'S POV

The storeroom was shrouded in darkness, save for the faint flicker of a single bulb swinging from the ceiling. Dust lingered in the air, disturbed by Jungkook's heavy breaths.

He stood in front of a rusty cupboard, its hinges groaning as he pulled it open. Inside lay the fragments of a life he barely remembered-boxes filled with photographs, trinkets, and memories.

Jungkook reached for a weathered photo album, his gloved fingers brushing off years of dust. He opened it carefully, and there they were-his parents, smiling and radiant.

The image transported him back to a time when laughter filled the walls of their home. He saw himself, a carefree boy sitting on his father's shoulders, his mother clapping with joy.

The sound of their laughter echoed faintly in his mind, a haunting reminder of what had been taken from him.

But the warmth of the memory vanished like a flame snuffed out. His jaw tightened as the familiar bitterness surged within him. That man.

The one who destroyed everything.

He wasn't just responsible for ripping Jungkook's family apart; he had torn another family to shreds, leaving nothing but ashes behind.

Jungkook turned the page, his eyes landing on a photo of another family-a smiling couple with a little girl clutching a stuffed bear.

Her wide eyes held a sparkle of innocence, her laughter captured forever in the photograph. He froze, his breath hitching.

It was her. The girl from his childhood.

He pulled out the picture, his hand trembling ever so slightly.

★Flashback★

Busan-

The streets of Busan felt foreign despite being Jungkook's hometown. The once-vibrant neighborhood was eerily quiet as the boys approached his house, its facade now worn and neglected.

Jungkook's heart sank when he saw the lock hanging heavily on the front door, its rusted surface a cruel marker of abandonment.

"This...can't be," Jungkook whispered, his voice barely audible as he stared at the house that once echoed with laughter and warmth.

Jimin placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "We'll find out what happened, Jungkook. Let's ask the neighbors."

They approached an elderly couple sitting outside their modest home. Jungkook hesitated, his heart pounding as he tried to steady his voice.
