Today is Poppy's first birthday, time has gone so fast and Poppy is growing up so fast I can't keep up. Poppy can walk as long as she is holding on to something and she is trying to walk without assistance, she can feed herself with a spoon or her hands and she uses a Sippy cup to give herself a drink, she loves giving high fives as well. Poppy doesn't really nap during the day unless she's had a long day but she sleeps through the night. Poppy can say a few works like mama, mum as she calls me mama and Alessia mum or mum-mum, she says words like cat, dog, yes, no and her favorite uh-oh.
Me and Alessia are setting up the house for Poppy's first birthday party, I arrive home from picking up her cake from the bakery and I walk into the kitchen and Alessia is cutting up some cucumber sticks
" mum-mum" Poppy says reaching up to Alessia. Alessia gives Poppy a cucumber stick and puts her in her chair.
" hello, my beautiful ladies" I say and put the boxed up cake on the counter
" hey" Alessia smiles and kisses me
" mama" Poppy beams.
" hi" she says raising her free hand meaning she wants a high five.
" high five" I chuckle as I give her a high five and Poppy laughs.
Me and Alessia finish setting up the house and then we get changed and ready for the party.
There's a knock on the door and Alessia opens it and it's Ella and Joe. Ella walks in and as soon as Poppy sees Ella, Poppy starts to try and walk to her. Ella meets her half way and picks her up. Ella is a loud person and most kids would be scared of her but Poppy adores Ella.
" hiya, poopy" Ella says picking Poppy up
" can you stop calling my child poopy" Alessia chuckles
" Poppy the poopy" Ella chuckles
" To" Poppy coos
Poppy has learnt that everyone calls Ella, Tooney so Poppy calls her 'to' to try and call her Tooney.
" hi" Poppy says raising her arm, Ella give her a high five.
" hi" Poppy says to Joe
" hello, cutie" Joe smiles
" she wants a high five" Ella chuckles
" oh" Joe chuckles and gives Poppy a high five.
Everyone starts to turn up. So from my side there's April, Emma, Simon, my dad, Callie, Jude and people from work and Alessia has Carol, Luca, Mario, Lauren and Gio and loads for her Arsenal and England team mates and the house is packed.
Me and Alessia are setting up the cake, Alessia puts the 1 candle in it.
" I can't believe our baby is one already" she says
" I know, time goes so quickly" I say lighting the candle.
" I'll go and get her, you bring out the cake?" she says more as a question
" sound good" I smile and she walks off.
I bring the cake in and Alessia is standing in the middle of the room holding Poppy, we all sing happy birthday and me and Alessia help Poppy blow out the candles
" uh-oh" Poppy says and then covers her mouth when the flame goes out and everyone laughs.
Poppy then gets her presents of everyone and me and Alessia help her open them and then thank who ever got them.
The party starts to die down as people start to leave. Poppy fell asleep on Carol. I take her off Carol and put Poppy in her little bed and put the rails up and turn the baby monitor on and close the door but leave a slight opening.
Carol, Mario, Emma and Simon stay to help tidy up. Me and Emma are tidying up the kitchen.
" Tay?" Emma says
" whats up?" I ask
" I just want to say how proud I am of you" she says and I give her a confused look
" seeing you with Pops and being a mother and how you and Less have done so well this past year and will continue to do well. I just want you to know how proud I am of you and the women you have become, your life hasn't been easy but you continued to push forward and now you have a beautiful child and wife and I know your mum would be looking down and would be proud of you too" she says
I walk up to her and give her a hug.
" thank you, I am the person I am because of you. If I didn't have you behind me I wouldn't here where I am today" I tell her
" thank you, that means a lot" she says
" I love you, ma" I tell her and place a gentle kiss on her forehead.
" I love you too, Tay" she says
We finish tidying up and everyone leaves.
" here" Alessia says passing me a mug
" thanks" I say as I take it.
" ahh, quietness at least" she sighs as she sits next to me
" did you have a good time?" I ask
" yeah, it was fun, it was good to see everyone and I think she did too" Alessia chuckles.
Alessia shows me her phone and it's a picture of Poppy and her face is covered in cake.
" oh wow" I chuckle.
" is she awake yet?" Alessia asked
" I don't think so" I say.
I get my phone and open the app we use to monitor the nursery and on the camera I see Poppy is standing on in her bed holding on to the rails.
" she's awake" I tell Alessia
" ugh, I just sat down" Alessia playfully moans
" I'll get her" I say.
I get off the sofa and go into Poppy's room
" mum, mum, mum" she says excitedly and starts bouncing
" hey, pretty princess" I say and get her out of her bed.
" you wanna go get mummy" I ask as we leave the room
" mummy?" she says
" yeah, lets go get her" I say.
I carry Poppy into the livingroom.
" hi, sweet girl" Alessia beams at Poppy. Poppy gets all excited and Alessia takes Poppy.
Later in the evening Alessia takes Poppy to bed and reads her a book and after Poppy falls to sleep Alessia joins me in bed.
