Step 2: The True You I Am Loved & Cherished Devotion 6
The True You Devotion 6 by Lynn
Have you heard the phrase "just be yourself?" It can be
Lhard to know who our true self really is, especially when
there is a lot of change happening in our lives.
Sometimes, in fact, I have wondered: Who is the true me?
Maybe you can relate.
Why is this so hard? Shouldn't it be simple to know our
own personality or the way that we are wired?
If you are a bit like me, the problem with being the true you is the thought what if others don't like that you? What if they don't like me? Then the true you doesn't feel like such a great girl.
Today, when I read my Bible, it was one of those WOW kinds of days. I read John 1:13 (MSG): "But whoever did want Him, who believed He was who He claimed and would do what He said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves.
Jesus does the most amazing things! This verse tells us that He gives the gift of becoming His children to those of us who want Him and show that we want the life He offers us by believing He is God's son. He makes us His. Being His is our true self.
If we want to know who we really are, the place to start is by knowing who we are as a child of God. There is a strength, a support, and a steadiness that comes when we know we are His. This verse reassures us that we were not born on this planet simply because two people had a baby. No, we were born to know God as our Father and be part of His family.
To be loved like this, by the God of the universe, brings courage to my heart to be the girl I was designed to be by this loving father. If I'm a bit different from others, that makes no difference in God's love for me. He loves me and He made me just the way I am.
This is how you can be the true you . . .loved and cherished.
