The week before their senior year started, Daisy's room was filled with a sense of calm and comfort. She sat on her bed with Lynn, both of them snuggled up under a cozy blanket as the late afternoon sunlight filtered through the window. They had spent the past two years together, their relationship growing stronger with each passing day, and now, as they approached their final year of high school, they felt the bittersweet mix of excitement and nervousness about what was to come.
Daisy rested her head on Lynn's shoulder, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Can you believe it's our last year already?" she asked, her voice quiet but full of thought. "I feel like it was just yesterday we were starting freshman year."
Lynn chuckled, her fingers lightly brushing through Daisy's hair. "I know, right? It's crazy. But, honestly, I'm kinda excited to be done with all the drama. Senior year has to be better than the rest of them, right?"
Daisy laughed softly. "I hope so. I think we've earned a good one."
There was a brief pause, and Daisy could feel the tension in Lynn's body as she let out a heavy sigh. Daisy tilted her head up to look at her girlfriend, noticing the thoughtful expression on Lynn's face.
"What's on your mind?" Daisy asked, sensing that something was bothering Lynn.
Lynn hesitated, then let out a frustrated sigh. "I don't know. I've been thinking a lot about college, and I'm having trouble picking a sport to focus on. I love both basketball and soccer, and I can't figure out which one I should try to pursue for real. I feel like I'm running out of time to decide."
Daisy propped herself up on one elbow, giving Lynn her full attention. "That's a big decision. But, you're great at both. What's been making it hard for you to choose?"
Lynn bit her lip, trying to organize her thoughts. "It's just... I don't want to regret not focusing on one, you know? But I love both so much, and I feel like I could be happy either way. But I don't know if I could do both in college, and I don't want to disappoint anyone."
Daisy reached out, taking Lynn's hand in hers. "You won't disappoint anyone. And you deserve to pick something that makes you the happiest. You've always been such a fierce player in both, but what feels more like you right now? Is there one you think you'd enjoy more in the long run?"
Lynn looked down, contemplating Daisy's words. "I mean, I love basketball because it's always been a part of me, but soccer... I feel like there's something about it that's so freeing. It's different, and I feel more in control when I'm on the field."
Daisy nodded thoughtfully. "So, maybe it's not about which one will impress people, but which one makes you feel the most you. Maybe it's soccer, or maybe it's basketball, but you don't have to rush to decide. You'll figure it out."
Lynn smiled softly, squeezing Daisy's hand. "You're right. Thanks for helping me narrow it down. I'll think about it more."
"I'm always here to help," Daisy said with a grin, leaning up to kiss Lynn on the cheek. "And no matter what you choose, I know you'll be amazing."
Lynn's smile widened, her eyes softening with affection. "Thanks, Daisy. You always know how to make me feel better."
Daisy's heart swelled with love for the girl beside her. "Anytime, Lynn. So, while you think about that, my band's coming over soon for rehearsal. Want to stay and hang out while we practice? You can make yourself comfy in here."
Lynn raised an eyebrow. "Your band, huh? That sounds fun. Sure, I'll stay. I love hanging out in your room anyway."
Daisy beamed, getting up to gather her things for rehearsal. "I promise I'll try not to distract you too much. But you'll get to hear a sneak peek of some of the new songs I've been working on for the album."
