His question was hanging in the air. I was still as my wolf, she was staring at him and I was doing the same thing from within our mind. She growled at him and I tried to stop her before it was too late. Telling her that it wasn't a good idea to growl at the only person who we were arranged to be with. I hated being Luna. But that didn't stop for what was coming next.

The next thing I knew was that he was now standing up to be in front of me, "you're not hurt are you?" he asked and held his hand out to my wolf. She growled at him again, baring her teeth. Rae didn't like Riley at all, while I managed to get along with him. "Come on now, you still can't hate me. After all, we're already mates."

"Mates my ass, you just want control." Rae snarled through me, glaring at him. "Besides, we were only getting fresh air. Learn to deal with it." She pressed on, going to walk past him. "C'mon, Rae." Coming from him now sounded like his wolf, but she was refusing to listen to him. "You can't just get up and leave whenever you want, you are-"

"I am NOT." She turned her head over her shoulder and bared her teeth again at him. Stomping her two front paws into the ground. "And I never will be." As soon as I maintained control over my wolf, it was already too late. I could feel the tension hanging in the air. His wolf was not pleased with how my wolf was still rejecting him as her mate. "You and I are done." She said through me. I pounded on the wall on the inside of my own mind. "Rae!" I shout through my wolf, before Riley could even think to react. He stopped and waited. "Don't do this. If you do, it will only make it worse for us."

"For you. Not for me." Rae replied through me. Was it weird that I was in my head and she was out? I was mostly talking to myself. But that was normal. For me at least. Once Riley had a chance to react, he shifted into his wolf and chased me down like I was his prey. Rae started running quickly toward the exit of our village. Panting heavily and trying to make sure that his wolf could not catch up.

"You can't run from me!" His wolf snarled. "You will be mine!" He shouts and apparently everyone came out to see what the commotion was about. Hedrick picked Riley's clothes up from the ground and looked out at us from where he stood, "go get her, son!" he shouts through his laughter. Sasha shook her head and sighed; "well. At least they're out getting some fresh brisk air." Rae was panting heavily and I thought my lungs were about to collapse. In the human sense, of course they would. But I am more than just a girl. I still wished to be free. From all of this.

Riley's wolf, Ro, caught up like it was nothing. Chasing after me as we were now outside of the village gates and running through the woods. Ro managed to capture Rae like it was nothing. Stomping his front right foot next to her head and baring his teeth at her through his snarl; "mine." as he went to lay on her back. He kept her pinned down. In my mind I was panicking that he would do something far worse than what I thought. Ro kept Rae still, as he howled. Signaling the others that he has caught his mate.

"I will never be yours!" She argued and he didn't want to hear it, so he bared his teeth into her tuff. Picking us up like it was nothing. Did I ever tell you that I never actually marked him? I have two sets of teeth that help me when it comes to that kind of thing. So that means the whole thing was just a game to me. Of course. I didn't want him to know, but I think he just figured it out. He dragged Rae further into the woods and dropped her on the ground. Glaring and stomping his paws into the dirt, as if questioning why. "You lied to me." Ro commented and Rae turned her head in a huff. "You do not understand the meaning of mate."

And then, there it was. That same exact howl. The loud howl that I had not heard in a year. It boomed across the mountain. Making it known so the village could hear it. Through the shadows of the treeline we could see fast movement. Riley snapped his head up and scanned the woods. His wolf was starting to get angry and impatient. "Enough. You're coming with me." He spoke, gripping me with his jaws. Tugging my tuff with his teeth. Not going to lie, it hurt. I whined through my wolf, as he began dragging me back to our home. "No. No.. please! I.. I didn't mean it!" I whimpered. He continued to do this until we reached the village gates.

"You didn't mean it, huh? Then explain to me why you lied about marking me, when I have already made you mine?" Riley asked, shifting his body and grabbing his clothes from his father. He just left me standing there, naked. Sasha walked over and covered me with a blanket. "Take her to the basement." Hedrick ordered her and I thought my worst nightmares were about to come true. "No, please.. Don't let him.." I mentioned this to Sasha. "Don't worry so much girl, I got you."

Was the only thing I heard.

Three hours later I was being punished for something I could not help. Did I actually love Riley? Yes, then again, no. Because Rae rejected him as her mate. She hated every aspect of Riley's being. Along with his wolf. What makes me different from the other wolves? What makes it okay to do such a thing to even me? Being beaten until I bled was something I didn't have on my agenda for today. Sasha got them to stop, but it was already too late. I had gone numb from the whippings and the beatenings. I didn't care anymore. I just wanted to die now. Life was about one thing in this stupid village. I shouldn't have trusted him with my virginity because now I can never get it back.

I should have never trusted him. I should have never made friends in the first place. I wish I could go back in time and redo my whole life. Because this wasn't what I saw. I saw it as fun and games when Riley and I were kids. He would make fun and pick on me, but when he found his wolf. He became even worse than before. After everything stopped, they kept me in the cells of the basement for days with nothing but scrap to eat. I was supposed to be Luna. Now you understand why I hated it.

Walking down the stairs now was my brother. He didn't want Sasha anywhere near me because he knew what was going on. And he didn't look pleased. "See what happens when you lie, sister?" He said this without even thinking to say my name. But I knew who he was talking to. Duh. The only girl down in the cells is me. "I didn't mean to." I mentioned this to my brother and he scoffed. "Fine. Then when were you going to tell us that you had two sets of canines, huh?" How he found out was thanks to-

That son of a bitch. "I wasn't going to tell him until I felt ready. But that night, when he marked me. I felt an intense urge to-"

"To what, huh?" Rajah questioned.

"To kill.." I worded carefully, but slow enough to get it through his dumb brain. "You wanted to kill?" He asked and I refused to answer. He punched the cell and snarled, "I know you're holding out on me, Stephanie." as I looked over my shoulder. "Why do you care?" I questioned him. "Because, the more we know about what we're dealing with, the better it will be for you."

I've heard that before. I said to myself, hearing my wolf pacing back and forth through my skin. I didn't understand what the deal was. Everything was perfect until the moment Riley found out the truth.

I never loved him.
