MAVEN

As the stars twinkled overhead, the cold breeze kissed our skin, but Ac's warmth pressed against me was all I needed to stay grounded.

Weeks have passed after that magical night we had, mas lalo naming minahal ang isa't isa, we had fights din but we still managed to fix it.

Lately we've been apart and really busy, our schedules and works contradict our time together, pansin ko iyon as Cress and I grew far from each other for the past days.

Yet today, we find time to settle and free our mind from the reality of life as we just let our heart shine, here at our favorite spot— the rooftop.

The rooftop had become a sanctuary, where the noise of the world faded into the background.

And tonight, I couldn’t shake off the overwhelming feeling that this was just the beginning of something deeper—something I wasn’t ready to let go of.

I tightened my hold on Ac, pulling her closer as the city lights blinked below us. She sighed contentedly, her soft voice breaking the silence.

“Ang ganda ng mga bituin, no?” She murmured, her eyes reflecting the shimmer of the night.

“Yeah” I replied, my voice barely a whisper. “Pero mas maganda ka pa rin.”

She chuckled, shaking her head, her cheeks blooming with that familiar blush I adored. “Smooth talker” She teased, nudging me lightly.

“Im just saying the truth " I said, turning her to face me. “Kung pwede lang sabihin sa mundo kung gaano kita kamahal, siguro sasabog ang langit sa inggit.”

Her smile faltered for a moment, her expression turning serious. “Mave…”

“Hmm?”

She leaned closer, her hand resting on my cheek, her thumb grazing softly against my skin. “Kung darating ang araw na kailangan nating pumili sa pagitan ng pangarap at ng ganito… pipiliin mo pa rin ba ako?”

I didn’t even hesitate. “Cress, ikaw na nga ang pangarap ko. Kahit ano pa ang mangyari, ikaw ang uunahin ko.”

Her lips trembled, her eyes glistening with unshed tears, but she quickly buried her face in my chest to hide them.

Mave She whispered against my skin, “Alam mo ba kung gaano kita kamahal?”

“Huwag mo nang sabihin,” I said, kissing the top of her head. “Nararamdaman ko.”

We stayed like that for what felt like hours, wrapped in each other under the night sky.

When the chill finally seeped into our bones, we decided to head inside, laughing as we stumbled through the small doorway back to our shared space.

The next morning, I woke up to the smell of coffee and the soft clatter of utensils.

Stretching, I shuffled to the kitchen to find Ac humming as she cooked, her movements relaxed and graceful.

“Good morning, Ms. Chef” I teased, leaning against the doorframe.

She turned, her eyes lighting up. “Ang tagal mo namang gumising! Breakfast is almost ready.”

I walked up behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist as she flipped a pancake. “Pwede bang ikaw na lang ang almusal ko?” I whispered, pressing a kiss to her neck.

“Mave!” She scolded, laughing as she pushed me away. “Mag-behave ka, gutom na ako.”

“Fine” I pouted, retreating to the table.

Moments later, she joined me with a plate of pancakes and a steaming cup of coffee.

As we ate, we talked about everything and nothing—the kind of conversation that made me fall for her all over again.

“Anong plano mo mamaya?” I asked, slicing into my pancake.

She shrugged, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “Ikaw ang bahala. Pero gusto ko yung masaya at adventurous.”

I grinned, already forming a plan in my head.

By noon, we found ourselves in the heart of the city, exploring hidden corners and quaint little shops. Ac’s laughter echoed through the narrow streets as we stumbled upon a bookstore tucked away between towering buildings.

Inside, the smell of old paper and ink enveloped us. Ac wandered to the fiction section, her fingers grazing the spines of books. I watched her from a distance, her quiet joy filling the space.

“Found anything?” I asked, walking up behind her.

She turned, holding up a small poetry book. “Gusto kong basahin ito sayo mamaya.”

I smiled. “I’d love that.”

As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, we returned to the rooftop with our finds—a few books, takeaway coffee, and a box of macarons Ac had insisted we try.

Sitting side by side, Ac opened her poetry book and began to read, her voice soft and melodic.

“Inibig kita nang higit sa sarili,
Sa bawat tibok ng puso, ikaw ang nasisilip…”

Her voice faltered as she glanced at me, her cheeks turning red.

“Bakit ka tumigil?” I teased, nudging her.

She shook her head, hiding her face behind the book. “Ikaw kasi! Tumititig ka ng ganyan!”

I laughed, pulling her into my arms. “Eh kasi naman, ikaw ang muse ko, Cress. Hindi ko kayang tumingin kahit saan.”

She groaned in mock annoyance but didn’t pull away. Instead, she rested her head against my shoulder, her hand finding mine.

“Cress” I said softly, my voice steady and sure, “Thank you for being mine.”

She looked up at me, her eyes filled with love. “No, thank you Mave, ikaw lang ang lahat sa akin.”

I pressed a kiss to her forehead, then her nose, and finally her lips, sealing the promise of forever under the stars once more.
